A clinically competent surgical technologist, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, is responsible for the care and safety of the patient during the intraoperative period. Included within this assignment is the responsibility for assisting with preparation of surgical patient by performance of routine and delegated duties according to standards and policies of the hospital.Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must possess a current CST license and BLS certification.
Education: High School graduate, graduate of an accredited school or Surgical Technology program.
Experience:
Minimum of one year current operating room experience (student experience allowed).
Possesses a service mentality, should possess the ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs and care for all patient populations. (i.e. neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, geriatrics).
Special Qualifications: Knowledge and understanding of basic principles of asepsis, simple biology, leadership qualities, the ability to work independently, demonstrates effective communication and organizational skills.
Degree of Supervision Required: Supervision received by Nurse Manager, Operating Room; RN professional staff, Medical / Surgical Staff, Anesthesiologists, and other health care professionals.
