MercyOne West Des Moines (Floats to Des Moines one day a week) Full-Time 40 hours a week; Day ShiftProvides occupational therapy services including evaluation, treatment and documentation in the areas of ADL, motor function, sensation, perception, cognitive, psychosocial, and orthotics upon referral by and under guidance of a qualified physician in accordance with the Iowa Occupational Therapy Practice Act. Work is performed with considerable independence according to standard policy and within program guidelines. Supervises certified occupational therapist assistants and rehab support staff in patient care and non-patient care duties according to licensure law. Provides on-going occupational therapy to infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients and their families based on assignment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Based on assignment: Performs evaluations and treatments (including the application of topical medications used in treatment modalities and/or burn/wound care) to infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in a variety of settings. Completes supporting documentation according to hospital policy
- Appropriately establishes and reviews: Plan of care; Goals and priorities with team (including patient/family); Treatment in response to changing patient needs; Educational needs of patient/caregivers; Discharge plan/follow-up care needs.
- Complies with department, hospital, and regulatory agency guidelines with respect to ethics, legal issues and supervisory relationships. Demonstrates professional accountability per the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
- Demonstrates appropriate and effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication with team members through the continuum of care.
- Protects patient confidentiality in regard to medical, emotional, and social status.
- Advocates for the profession through memberships, affiliations, continuing education, community service and legislative support.
- Other duties as needed and assigned by the manager.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of accredited program in occupational therapy
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in Iowa
- Previous experience desired but not required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Certifications must be obtained through the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire
- Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
