Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
Senior Accountants ensure the integrity of accounting information by applying GAAP, recording, verifying, and entering transactions. Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Maintains and balances general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies. Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements. Completes external audit requests by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors. Leads and executes projects with minimal direction and supervision. Able to train and provide leadership to other Partners on the Team. Senior Accountants typically report to senior level Accounting Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepares journal entries, reconciliations, subledgers, and analyzes reports for multiple different business lines in a high volume/multiple legal entity environment.
• May be responsible for completion and accuracy of indirect tax returns (sales, property, unclaimed property)
• Analyze expenses for accruals.
• Review, approve, and/or code current month account payable invoices.
• Assist with preparation of audit schedules.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts.
• Acts as liaison between operations and Finance team for a line of service.
• Analyzes trend reports and budget vs actual reports and identifies and explains important variances.
• Possess knowledge and experience to be able to identify areas of improvement and can then execute on implementing improvements.
• Willingness and ability to lead, train, or review work of fellow staff accountants.
• Team oriented, able to handle multiple competing priorities..
• Responsible for completion of all shared spreadsheets in an accurate and timely manner.
• Provide internal requested information in a timely manner.
• Able to work overtime as needed, in particular during month end close.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting required. Graduate degree preferred.
• CPA or CPA Candidate preferred
• 5 years' experience in the Healthcare field or related area, including prior experience in large company/high transactional volume accounting.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in managing goals through collaboration and teamwork
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required
• Experience with PeopleSoft or similar ERP system
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills required - ability to create formulas, pivot tables, Vlookups.
• Excellent attention to detail and computational skills
• Ability to apply strong problem-solving techniques
• Experienced and skilled in reconciliations
