Key Responsibilities: Tundish Preparation & Spraying Apply refractory spray linings using manual or mechanized equipment Prepare surfaces (cleaning, drying, preheating) Ensure proper thickness and quality specifications Inspect linings for cracks, adhesion, and integrity Track material usage and job completion Equipment Operation & Maintenance Operate spray systems, pumps, and mixers Perform routine maintenance on hoses, nozzles, and equipment Identify and report mechanical issues Safety & Compliance Follow all steel mill safety standards (PPE, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work) Work safely around heat, dust, molten metal, and heavy equipment Participate in safety meetings and training Team Collaboration Work closely with casting and maintenance teams Communicate production readiness and quality concerns Support fast-paced, shift-based operations What You Bring Required: High school diploma or GED Mechanical aptitude and comfort with tools/equipment Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical work Willingness to work in high-heat industrial environments Preferred: Steel mill, refractory, or industrial experience Forklift or heavy equipment certification Familiarity with refractory materials or melt shop operations Work Environment Active steel mill with heat, dust, noise, and heavy equipment PPE required (provided): heat-resistant gear, respirators, face shields Requires flexibility for shifts, weekends, and overtime Why This Role Stands Out If you’re looking for steady pay, real skill development, and a path into industrial trades, this is a strong entry point.
