Purpose Statement

Provides technical and project leadership for initiatives focused on the review, improvement, and remediation of chemical processes across manufacturing and development operations. Leads cross‑functional projects to assess process performance, investigate deviations, and identify root causes, driving the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions. Reviews and approves analytical data to support process decisions, ensuring scientific integrity, regulatory compliance, and alignment with quality standards. Partners with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to optimize processes and ensure sustainable solutions. Serves as a subject matter expert for chemical processes, guiding method application, data interpretation, and continuous improvement efforts. Ensures activities align with established procedures, quality systems, and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Defines project resource requirements and coordinates with functional managers and stakeholders to ensure appropriate technical support is available for project execution.
  • Provides technical guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing to project team members and peers; supports capability development through mentoring and informal training activities.
  • Leads and coordinates project activities, monitoring progress and aligning cross‑functional contributors to achieve project objectives and timelines.
  • Conducts research to develop, improve, or remediate analytical techniques, methodologies, and procedures in support of chemical process improvement.
  • Develops and/or applies new or existing analytical test methods to determine quantity, quality, and purity of new or existing compounds.
  • Authors technical reports documenting project findings, root cause analyses, and recommendations for process or test method improvements.
  • Conducts exploratory research to build technical understanding for potential products or process enhancements; evaluates application of analytical instrumentation.
  • Evaluates relationships between molecular structure and physical properties to support analysis and process decision‑making.
  • Reviews analytical data for accuracy, completeness, and scientific soundness to support project and process decisions.
  • Approves analytical data within defined authority levels, excluding final product disposition decisions.

Education and Job Skills

Experience / Education

National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline with 4+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Technical / Business Knowledge

Comprehensive knowledge of a specific technical or chemical discipline with strong understanding of cross‑functional dependencies and business impacts. Recognised as a technical expert within a work group and across functions. Operates within a regulated quality system environment where performance

impacts compliance with governmental and regulatory requirements.

Cognitive Skills

Addresses complex technical and process‑related problems requiring in‑depth analysis of multiple variables. Exercises sound judgment within broadly defined guidelines to select appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria. Demonstrates awareness of technical alternatives and their potential impact on cost, quality, compliance, and timelines.

Influence / Technical Leadership

Provides technical leadership without direct supervisory authority. Collaborates with senior management, quality, engineering, and manufacturing stakeholders on significant, cross‑functional initiatives. May lead project teams or workstreams. Supports the development of other technical contributors by sharing expertise, facilitating knowledge transfer, and providing constructive feedback. Acts as a technical mentor and trusted advisor.

Plans and organises complex project assignments involving multiple stakeholders. Establishes project priorities, milestones, and schedules to support timely execution and delivery.

Selects appropriate scientific and technical approaches to drive projects to completion. Decisions and recommendations have a direct impact on project outcomes, process performance, and organisational objectives.
