Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building systems, utilities, and production-related support equipment in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient facility operation that supports production needs and meets all applicable GMP, OSHA, and FDA regulatory standards. In addition the maintenance technician is responsible for supporting external contractors for the maintenance and repair of the operations at the plant. The role is also responsible for supporting the running and maintaining the preventative maintenance system to pre-determined guidelines. The role is also responsible for the development of an SAP-based magazine management system and all tasks relating to energy management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, compressed air, vacuum, and water purification systems.
  • Support GMP manufacturing operations by ensuring critical systems are operating reliably and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Complete and document maintenance activities using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely manner with minimal disruption to production.
  • Support the calibration, validation, and qualification of facility systems and utility equipment as required.
  • Assist in planning and execution of facility upgrades, equipment installations, and layout changes.
  • Maintain knowledge of cleanroom environments and support proper pressure cascades, filtration, and environmental monitoring systems.
  • Participate in safety programs, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance with company safety standards.
  • Work with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, services, or construction projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of spare parts inventory and recommend reorders or improvements as needed.
  • Provide support during audits, inspections, or regulatory visits related to facilities or maintenance operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.

Education

  • Associate's Degree Trade qualification Mechanical/ Electrical /Instrumentation and or Diploma in Engineering, Electrical/ Process/Mechanical or building services engineering. Preferred

Work Experience

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device environment required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of GMP regulations and cleanroom practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and SOPs.
  • Experience with CMMS software and documentation practices in regulated environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification.
  • Experience with ISO 13485 or FDA 21 CFR Part 820 compliance.
  • Flexibility to work off-hours or weekends for emergency maintenance or facility shutdowns.

Physical Requirements

Medium-Exerting up to 50lb/22kg of force occasionally and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs/4kgs of force constantly to move objects.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work assigned shift(s) with overtime as required to complete assignments if necessary.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur as well as getting to and from offices and building sites.
  • May require standing, climbing, lifting, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE and pass gowning qualification for cleanroom entry.
  • Hearing ability should be sufficient to hear and react to audible alarms from distances up to 150 feet.
