The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports directly to the Director of the Center for Healthy Living and provides administrative and clinical operations support for the Center. Functions as central phone reception and is responsible for courteously and effectively answering and directing all inquiries. Participates in the intake process by obtaining relevant descriptive and financial information as needed and recording and transmitting data related to access per department protocol. Is responsible for stocking supplies, scheduling appointments, collecting co-pays, filing patient information, recording, and transmitting data related to records and processing medical records requests, scheduling, authorizations, charge entry and payer information and maintaining patient records. Performs registration of outpatients by choosing the correct Medical Record and obtains accurate demographic and financial data. Establishes patient account for the purpose of producing a timely and accurate bill and an accurate medical record. Verifies insurance through hospital system. Interfaces with patients/students, families, professionals, and other hospital departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Effective and efficient operations of daily activities: opening, closing, mail distribution, copying, faxing, filing, dispatching incoming and voicemail messages and other workflow operations for the department as evidenced by successful completion of tasks.
2. Professional and timely answering of telephones and appropriately directs calls to clinical staff/MD/voicemail.
3. Obtains and demonstrates ability to effectively complete the patient referral data process by acquiring accurate referral information, input of data into Meditech and appropriately interfacing with Central Scheduling as required.
4. Collection and processing of patient payments upon patient's arrival and ability to utilize and process payments with financial services.
5. Registration of patient accounts - independently establishes and maintains, recording information accurately. In addition, responsible for maintaining updated information on registration procedures and changes as received by admitting department and management staff, as evidenced by lack of registration errors as reported by auditing staff and management review.
6. Daily scheduling and rescheduling of appointments in a timely and proficient manner.
7. Independently maintains contact with third party payors, obtaining benefit verifications, establishing, and updating authorization requirements, and other needed information on a regular basis, as evidenced by review of documentation. Assures that this information, including Medicare documentation, is accurately recorded in both the patient’s medical record and Medi-Tech account.
8. Demonstrates knowledge and experience with computer programs appropriate for position.
9. Charge entry process for billing and preparation/update of daily schedule sheets for appropriate service.
10. Set up and maintenance of patient information by appropriate updating Meditech and filing into patient's charts.
11. Monitoring of copiers, faxes, and computers for any perceived problems and ensures adequate supplies are always available.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
· This position requires a high school diploma, or GED equivalent.
· Bilingual (English – Spanish) preferred but not required.
· CPR Certification through RPI preferred, but not required.
EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a medical facility.
· Experience in a related setting using medical terminology and working with managed care is preferred.
COMPETENCIES:
· Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and time management skills are required.
· Must be able to function effectively and independently in a work environment where multitasking is essential.
· Must have excellent verbal and written command of the English language and communication skills to effectively communicate with patients/students and staff.
