The Wellness Clinic Nurse is a Registered Nurse and/or a Licensed Practical Nurse who seeks to protect the community from vaccine preventable diseases by providing immunization services to the general public. The nurse assesses the immunization status of clients, administers vaccines, and educates clients and caregivers about immunizations.
The Wellness Nurse is a Registered Nurse and/or a Licensed Practical Nurse who promotes the wellness of seniors in the community by promoting awareness, motivation and tools to seniors in the community that will help them adapt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Key areas of responsibility
Reviews protocols and age-specific vaccine requirements prior to the opening of the clinic
Completes appropriate client Immunization Consent forms and clinic records to ensure correct vaccines are administered and documented
Prepares vaccines for administration according to manufacturer’s instructions and administers them using safe and proper techniques
Disposes of bio-hazardous waste in the appropriate and prescribed manner
Has knowledge of Vaccine Safety Control requirement
Coordinate and maintain wellbeing programming including but not limited to blood pressure clinics, diabetes and cholesterol screening
Provide educational information to clients based upon current health guidelines concerning hypertension, diabetes and elevated cholesterol, including referrals to clients PCP
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
One (1) year of prior professional nursing experience preferred
Licensure, Certification, Registration
Active professional nursing license in the state of practice
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
Knowledge of intramuscular injection technique, intradermal injection technique and subcutaneous injection technique.
