Job Description
- Teacher Intern Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately demonstrates knowledge of the content area and approved curriculum.
- Appropriately utilizes a variety of teaching methods and resources for each area taught.
- Communicates with and obtains feedback from students in a manner that enhances student learning and understanding.
- Comprehends the principles of student growth, development and learning and applies them correctly.
- Effectively utilizes student assessment techniques and procedures.
- Manages the educational setting in a manner that promotes positive student behavior and a safe and healthy environment.
- Recognizes student diversity and creates and atmosphere conducive to the promotion of positive student involvement and self-concept.
- Demonstrates a willingness to examine and implement change as appropriate.
- Works well with administration to meet professional requirements and responsibilities.
- Works cooperatively with colleagues, parents, community members, supervisors, and administrators.
- Demonstrates a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information of students.

- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially Introduced by the teacher.
- Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, remedial work, and makeup work set up and assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with such large group activities.
- Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information known about an individual student.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
22. Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.
16. Ens 23. Ensures the safety and well-being of children being transported to and from the school and on field trips on vehicle used by the school.
24. Pe 24 Performs care-giving duties including, but not limited to toileting duties, feeding, pushing wheelchairs, and lifting/transferring students with special needs, as needed
25. Other duties as assigned by the teacher or principal.
- Education and Experience
Required
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must be able to pass employment verification.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Must successfully complete 18 college hours a year (C or better).
- Must be enrolled in an education program at a college or university.
- Transcripts and updated degree plans are required each year before being considered for rehire.
- Must be successful as a student intern as evaluated by the principal and cooperating teacher.
- Must obtain a NMPED license as both a Substitute Teacher and Instructional Assistant.
- Must be able to pass HB 128 background check and state and federal background check.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
- Additional qualifications as may be appropriate for a specific position.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
