Primary Purpose:
Support the district's communications and community engagement efforts through the creation of compelling multimedia content that highlights the achievements, programs, students, staff, and events of Splendora ISD. This position is responsible for producing high-quality video, photography, graphic design, social media, and digital storytelling content that promotes the district's mission, vision, and brand.
 

 

Qualifications:
BA in Digital Media / Communications or related field preferred

High school diploma or GED required
 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of creative design and development processes, elements of design, video/photo composition, audio/video recording and editing processes, and post-production techniques
  • Experience using multimedia production and graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, or related software)
  • Proficient in multimedia production, including:
    • Video production and editing
    • Photography and photo editing
    • Social media management
    • Website content management
    • Graphic design and desktop publishing
  • Strong storytelling, writing, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Ability to create engaging content tailored for multiple digital platforms
  • Ability to develop shot lists, storyboards, and scripting frameworks
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to initiate, plan, and complete multiple projects independently
  • Creative eye for composition, lighting, and visual storytelling
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, administrators, and community members

 

Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience in multimedia production, communications, public relations, digital media, or related field preferred

Experience in educational communications or school public relations preferred
 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
 

  1. Create and produce multimedia content, including videos, photography, graphics, social media campaigns, and digital storytelling pieces that promote district initiatives and campus activities.
  2. Develop shotlists, scripting frameworks, and storyboards for productions.
  3. Coordinate the design and distribution of district print and digital publications, web content, social media, and marketing materials.
  4. Provide videography and photography coverage for district events, programs, meetings, athletic events, and special activities.
  5. Edit and produce promotional, informational, and celebratory video content for district communication channels.
  6. Manage and maintain district social media content calendars and assist with daily social media engagement.
  7. Capture interviews and develop human-interest stories featuring students, teachers, staff, and community members.
  8. Assist with website updates and digital content management systems.
  9. Operate and maintain multimedia and audiovisual equipment, including cameras, lighting, microphones, editing software, and related technology.
  10. Support district branding initiatives and ensure consistency in visual and written communications.
  11. Coordinate filming schedules with campuses, departments, and district leadership.
  12. Collaborate with campus and district staff to identify and promote positive stories throughout the district.
  13. Assist with live event coverage, streaming, and video board content as needed.
  14. Attend district, campus, and community events, including some evening and weekend activities.
  15. Support and assist audio/video courses at HS when needed.
  16. Exercise professional judgment and discretion in communication strategies and public-facing content.
  17. Compile information and prepare reports, presentations, and communication materials as requested.
  18. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and student records.
  19. Follow all district safety procedures and maintain organized workspaces and equipment.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.

     

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
 

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including a personal computer and peripherals, as well as a camera and multimedia equipment.
Posture: Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, climbing
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding, and use of the mouse
Lifting: Ability to lift and transport equipment up to 35 pounds
Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel; work inside and outside with exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration, and chemical and electrical hazards
Mental Demands: Work prolonged and irregular hours as needed, including evenings and weekends;work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

 

Other Information: 

The District contributes $330 monthly toward the cost of the employee-only health insurance, which is $105 more than the state-required amount of $225/month. All employees in this position receive free treatment at any Next Level Urgent Care.

 

Position Type: Full-Time

Contract/Days: 12-month/223 days
