Job Description
The Chief Engineer for ILS / Product Integrity is responsible for ensuring the technical integrity of the product throughout all phases of its lifecycle, guaranteeing that the design, manufacture, maintenance, support and operation comply with the reliability, maintainability, safety and certification requirements applicable to the aerospace and defence sector. He leads ILS activities and coordinates disciplines such as RAM/L, Safety, Obsolescence and Maintenance, ensuring that the product is safe, sustainable, certifiable and maintainable throughout its entire life cycle. Key Responsibilities 1. Technical authority for product integrity • Ensure consistency between technical design, maintainability and customer and regulatory requirements. • Define the criteria for system integrity, reliability, maintainability and support. • Validate that technical project decisions do not compromise safety, availability or operating costs. 2. Comprehensive management of ILS in accordance with international standards Oversee and apply frameworks and standards such as: • S3000L – Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) • S1000D – Technical publications • S2000M – Spare parts management • S4000P – Preventive maintenance • DEF STAN 00 600, MIL STD 1388, MIL STD 1629 • IEC 60300 (Reliability and maintainability) • EN9100, ISO9001 3. Leadership of RAMT/L areas • Oversee analyses of Reliability (R), Availability (A), Maintainability (M) and Testability (T). • Validate FMEA/FMECA, fault trees, RBD, Weibull, LORA analysis and LCC studies. • Set RAM targets and ensure they are met. 4. Safety management, certification and regulatory requirements • Oversee safety processes (system safety, functional safety). • Ensure compliance with standards such as MIL STD 882, ARP4761, ARP4754A or other domain-specific standards. • Liaise with certification bodies and external auditors. 5. Technical liaison with stakeholders • Coordinate with engineering, industrialisation, quality, manufacturing, supply chain and operations. • Participate in tenders, technical reviews and the negotiation of requirements (RFP, SOW, ICD). 6. Continuous innovation and lifecycle improvement • Drive strategies to reduce lifecycle costs (LCC). • Implement advanced predictive techniques, digital twins, CBM/PHM. • Lead the digitalisation of RAM/L management, maintenance and support.
