Your future role on our team Join BBA as a Junior Mechanical and Piping Engineer-in-Training and build the technical foundation of your career in Alberta’s industrial, energy and decarbonization markets. This role is intended for someone curious, hardworking and motivated by technical development, field exposure and practical problem solving. You will support mechanical and piping engineering work on industrial projects, including studies, CAPEX, OPEX, sustaining capital, brownfield modifications and detailed engineering mandates. Working closely with senior engineers, designers, drafters and multidisciplinary project teams, you will learn how to develop safe, constructible and cost effective solutions for operating facilities. This role offers strong growth potential for an early career engineer who wants to build technical judgement, gain site experience and progressively take on more responsibility within BBA’s Calgary and Edmonton teams. Analyze, understand and help solve technical problems related to industrial mechanical equipment and piping systems Participate in studies, field work and detailed engineering mandates for brownfield and greenfield industrial projects Prepare mechanical and piping calculations, technical notes, specifications, datasheets, material lists, bills of materials and drawing markups under the supervision of experienced engineers Support the development of plans, specifications and technical deliverables in accordance with applicable codes, standards, project requirements and BBA quality procedures Work with designers and drafters to develop mechanical and piping drawings, layouts, details and construction support documents Participate in site visits, field data gathering, technical surveys, inspections, audits, construction support and commissioning support activities Assist senior engineers and project teams with technical evaluations, equipment selection, procurement support, proposal inputs and technical report writing
