We have an opportunity for a Test Engineer to join our Ashland, OH team. You will design, maintain, and control the product development and modification of pump products and quality control activities of the standard product based on internal standards and customer specifications; this involves servicing multiple regional sales offices & distributors, as well as supporting projects for a variety of clients (e.g. Municipal, Industrial, Commercial, Fire, Agricultural, etc.
You will:
- Perform hydraulic performance testing and electrical testing on motors and controls.
- Conduct Agency performance tests and reports.
- Analyze problems, identify issues, and serve as technical advisor to the operations team.
- Prepare technical data hydraulic curves and test report for both internal and external customers.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform sound engineering principles.
- Perform analysis of design or modification of product to meet customer specifications.
- Evaluate competitor’s designs, materials, strengths & weaknesses via product analysis.
- Interact with customers, marketing, sales, and manufacturing with emphasis on product quality.
- Liaison to Engineering, Manufacturing, Applications, and Order Entry to make sure customer needs are being met and provide corrective actions when needed.
- Establish and maintain testing processes and standards for testing.
- Recommend product design changes based on observations and testing.
- Interact with manufacturing to resolve in-house product failures and production problems.
- Assist field service department with troubleshooting and developing action plans to resolve performance issues.
- Closely monitor and analyze test data to maintain quality of the current product line.
- Maintain proficiency in current testing technology and integrate into test lab.
- Assist and advise purchasing as well as implementation of new or modified lab equipment.
- Employ lean methodologies and tools to improve processes.
Key Qualifications:
- BSME or BSMET
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written & verbal.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- A detail-oriented mindset.
- Ability to interpret drawings; experience with reading technical plans & specifications is a plus.
- Strong documentation and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated and team player mentality.
- Excellent organizational skills: experience with multi-tasking and meeting multiple deadlines is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; previous experience with cross-functional teams serving internal and external customers.
- Computer skills – Microsoft Office, SAP, Auto-CAD, and Solid Works.
Compensation:
For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $61200 - $113600 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs. This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
