Summer School Teachers - Senior High
Job Description
There are Summer School positions available to support students in grades 9-12.
Teacher/Substitute Responsibilities:
- Support and Guidance: Provide individualized support, feedback, and resources to help students succeed in their credit recovery journey or as Teacher of Record for Original Credit online courses.
- Assessment: Assess student progress and mastery of course content, providing appropriate feedback and remediation.
- Communication: Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff regarding student progress and any challenges or concerns.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and grades.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment.
- Intervention: Provide intervention and enrichment as needed to address individual student needs.
- Reporting: Regularly track and report student progress to the Principal.
- Discipline: Maintain high standards and provide tiered support as needed and outlined in the MCS Student Code of Conduct.
- Duties: Pending student to teacher ratio (12:1), teachers may be assigned other work vital to student graduation success.
There are Summer School positions available to support students in grades 9-12 for credit recovery and original credit as teacher of record, supported by Edgenuity.
Summer School will be held at Mansfield Senior High.
Students will be identified for support based on data including, but not limited to grades, attendance, NWEA MAP, and OST assessments.

Tentative Extendend Position Open-1:
Based on need, students who need to complete credit recovery work can be assigned a teacher to monitor progress and assessments through weekly check-ins following the conclusion of summer school.

Overview
- Grant Funded / Hourly Contracted Rate $32.76
- Paid via completed and approved timesheets.
- Commitment includes instruction, planning, and completion of appropriate record keeping submitted to the Principal or Designee.
- Instruction will be delivered in person (preference) / Virtual for targeted students only.
- Assessments will be supervised by the teacher.
- Staff must have a current/valid Ohio Department Teaching License for the grade bands/subjects that they are supporting.
- Reports to building administrators.

Counselor Responsibilities:
- Identify Students: Assess students' academic records and identify those who are at risk of not meeting graduation requirements.
- Resource and Referral: Connect students with appropriate credit recovery programs and original credit courses.
- Progress Monitoring: Track student progress in credit recovery programs and provide support to ensure completion.
- Collaboration: Work with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to coordinate credit recovery efforts.
- Communication: Maintain communication with students and families regarding their progress in credit recovery.
- Social Emotional: Provide support for students' social-emotional needs during summer school.
Note: The Counselor will be responsible for all providing job-related support to all students participating in summer programs at MSHS, K-12.
Nurse Responsibilities:
- Provide Medical Care and Treatment: As needed.
- Review Emergency Medical Forms and Student Health Information: Review health information summer ELO participants to identify any pre-existing medical conditions and develop appropriate school plans and communicate that with relevant staff.
- Administer medications and provide first aid: This includes managing medication schedules, treating injuries, and providing emergency care.
- Assess and treat illnesses and injuries: Be able to diagnose and treat common school -related ailments and injuries.
- Manage health emergencies: Be prepared to handle a variety of medical emergencies, including those requiring transport to a medical facility.
- Maintain accurate health records: This includes documenting treatments, medications, and any other relevant health information.
- Communicate with parents and staff: Keep parents informed about their child's health and communicate with staff about health-related issues.
- Manage medical supplies and equipment: Ensure that the Nurse's office is well-stocked with necessary supplies and that equipment is in good working order.
Note: The Nurse will be responsible for providing job-related support for all MCS students participating in summer programs at MSHS, K-12.
Conduct: Each staff member shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled
substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
Each staff member shall serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
