This role is hybrid, requiring at least 3 days in office. 
Summary:
The Sr. Transportation Safety Controller ensures that all company Transportation Safety practices comply with RES policies, as well as Federal, State and Provincial Transportation Safety regulations, while promoting industry best practices.
 
Requirements:
  • Partners with site management to ensure compliance at site; builds informal authority and formal authority to strengthen internal client relationships and Transportation Safety at RES.
  • Manages Commercial Vehicle programs by adhering to all US and Canadian regulations and standard operating procedures; utilizes systems in place, supports drivers in technical, quality and safety.
  • Supports projects by assigning fully qualified CDL and Non-CDL DOT, and Canadian Commercial drivers.
  • Works with equipment management and sites to maintain fully compliant commercial motor vehicles.
  • Oversees the Driver Qualification process for new drivers to include application processes, verifications, background investigations, and required testing, training or programs. Tracks driver credentials including licenses, medical cards, endorsements, driver violations reporting, certifications and training in ServiceNow.
  • Oversees telematics program, vendor support and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliance for all vehicles and Commercial Motor Vehicles.
  • Conducts driver training and provides support utilizing ELD system, to include on-site training, and training certifications are compliant.
  • Manages, administers and reports on all aspects of DOT Drug and Alcohol Program. • Manages assets for federal. state and provincial registration, inspections, and maintenance to ensure proper Highway Permitting adherence.
  • Conducts Transportation Safety accident investigations, compliance troubleshooting, and engages with operational leadership to ensure proper compliance and corrective actions.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in areas such as ELD program, vehicle requirements, telematics support, regulations, software development, vendor relations, driver training, and other DOT areas, based on business requirements.
  • Engages as a leader in Transportation Safety with RES Americas to set expectations, provide direction, and improve programs.
  • Handles sensitive information to ensure compliance while partnering with People & Culture for total compliance.
  • Operates Company aligned vehicle for business trips and site visits.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Helps develop and manage metrics associated with DOT program administration.
  • Supports a positive culture of safety, sharing consistent messaging to all audiences. Acts as an outspoken leader for transportation safety and DOT initiatives.
  • Provides support to department members to ensure business needs are addressed, as assigned by supervisor.

  • Strong Leadership skills and ability to handles sensitive information oversight and compliance
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel - data sorting and filters, shortcut keys, data validation, basic charts, formatting, and filtering; PowerPoint, Word), Microsoft Project
  • Research records and regulations to train others, provide policy oversight, and ensure compliance
  • Interpret, research, and ensure compliance within fleet management software
  • Functional Competencies include attention to detail, accountability, prioritization, communication and teamwork

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in DOT compliance, transportation safety, fleet management, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT FMCSA regulations and transportation safety requirements.
  • Experience managing ELD systems, telematics programs, driver qualification processes, and fleet compliance.
  • Experience conducting investigations, compliance reviews, and corrective action implementation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage sensitive compliance-related information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, accountability, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to travel for business trips and site visits as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
 
 
Anticipated base salary range: $65,000 - $81,000 
 
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
