Job Description
SteerBridge Strategies is seeking a Senior Architect/Engineer (CM-SA/E) to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) St. Louis Healthcare System across the Jefferson Barracks and John Cochran campuses.
This role provides comprehensive construction management and construction administration support throughout the VA design and construction delivery lifecycle. The CM-SA/E will serve as a key liaison between the VA, architects/engineers, contractors, stakeholders, compliance committees, and integrated project teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully, safely, on schedule, and within budget.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience supporting federal healthcare, institutional, or complex construction projects involving construction administration, contractor coordination, RFIs/submittals, inspections, QA/QC, scheduling, and active facility environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide project and construction management support for VA infrastructure and facility projects
- Coordinate with VHA stakeholders, architect-engineers, contractors, CORs, and integrated project teams throughout project delivery
- Review and monitor project schedules, milestone dates, phasing requirements, workflow sequencing, material deliveries, and testing schedules
- Facilitate, manage, and document project meetings and stakeholder communications
- Review and coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, shop drawings, as-built documentation, and construction administration processes
- Support management of construction documents, correspondence, field reports, and project tracking documentation
- Perform field verification activities and inspections to identify deficiencies, non-conforming work, safety concerns, and corrective actions
- Track project risks, schedule impacts, defects, omissions, and issue resolution activities
- Assist in maintaining project management plans, communication plans, schedule management plans, quality assurance plans, and risk management documentation
- Coordinate with contractors and stakeholders to proactively mitigate delays, conflicts, claims, and project risks
- Ensure compliance with applicable VA standards, project specifications, codes, regulations, and operational requirements
- Support active/occupied healthcare environments while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations
