Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Med/Surg 8 Unit at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN. 

The Med/Surg RN will provide care to medical surgical adult patients with medical conditions that require close observation, monitoring, and interventions

We are conveniently located on the West Bank of the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis. 

Schedule: This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks)

The shift length will be 12 hours on the Day shift with an every 3rd weekend rotation (F,S,S) and a holiday rotation.

About Our Med – Surg 8 Department at the UMMC West Bank: 

• Our unit is comprised of 24 Beds.  
  • Care Delivery: 4-5 patient assignment. 5-6 patient assignment on Night Shift.  
• Our team is prepared to work with a variety of adult patient diagnoses including:  
  • Sepsis 
  • Overdoses/Withdrawals 
  • Surgical Procedures 
  • Telemetry 
  • Diabetes 
  • Pneumonia 
  • Altered Mental Status (AMS) 
  • And more!  
• Adaptability, willingness to learn, and critical thinking skills are all important to be successful in this position.

The RN is responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and the identification and evaluation of outcomes for patients of all ages and populations. The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act: 

• Prioritizing, delegating, and maintaining oversight of duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader. 
• Maintaining confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and facility. 
• Establishing and implementing nursing care plans for assigned patient populations through assessment, development, activation, evaluation, and discharge. 
• Conducting ongoing assessments as determined by patient’s condition and/or the hospital policies, procedures or protocols and re prioritizes care accordingly. 
• Demonstrat
