Summary of Responsibilities:

• As a member of the Fortrea Leadership team, contributes to global strategy and business plans in line with Group vision and commercial aims as well as the development of Company policies involving medical, safety and therapeutic business development to support business growth across a region.

• Primary responsibilities to support customer engagement activities at executive and medical levels for local and regional biotech and biopharma sponsors. Support establishing relationships with customer medical and executive representatives, identifying therapeutic opportunities to target for business development growth.

  • Collaborate with local Strategy directors, Operations teams and Business Development Directors to align Fortrea expertise with sponsor opportunities, support creation of operational strategies to deliver trials and represent Fortrea as local executive sponsor as needed
  • Executive Sponsor and lead for process and continuous improvement activities across Company for Biopharma Medical and Scientific initiatives.

• Identifies and executes on opportunities for integrated development across business units

• Supports Company’s visibility and position within the contract research organization and medical/scientific environment through publications, presentations and panel participation at national and international industry and Scientific meetings.

• Presents medical/scientific capabilities and expertise to clients: grows high-level client-facing and Development Leader good working relationships including at Partnership Alliance Level on Operating and Executive governance committees.

• Works with Marketing, Inside Sales and Business Development to help identify client and business opportunities and technical positioning and differentiation of new services and capabilities.

• Develops new proactively enhances and trouble shoots existing client/investigator relationships.

• Leads the development of KOL/investigator networks.

• Develops a robust consultant network to extend therapeutics capabilities.

• Spearheads development and upgrade of Medical and Scientific Disease Area Strategy across TAs.

• Ensures consistent high-quality contributions to proposals/bid defenses and proactive client interaction from TAs activities

• Pursues continuous learning and development for self and others.

• Provides mentoring to and assists with supervision of Executive Medical Director / SP (Section Head), Senior Medical Director, Medical Director, Associate Medical Directors, Assistant Medical as well as project level operations and Strategy Directors, and others.

• Personal / vacation time approval.

• Professional meeting approval.

• Significant contributor to overall Fortrea Commercial strategy and supporting the creation of local operational strategies through support of relevant medical and development expertise

• Provides leadership for staff within the therapeutic area and supports regional commercial opportunities

• Provides vision and sets strategy/direction for therapeutic area.

• Act as ambassador for process improvement.

• Has a deep understanding of our clients and the market.

• Guides team in building long-term strategic client relationships.

• Provides the scientific strategic leadership for a given therapeutic area.

• Provides clinical and medical expertise to other Fortrea departments.

• Ensure staff are able to meet safety monitoring needs of clients.

• Oversees dev elopement of training modules and provides training in specific therapeutic areas

across Company.

• Participants in training opportunities to advance knowledge of drug development and good clinical practice guidelines.

• Provides medical/scientific expertise to project teams.

• Develops, reviews and revises protocols, case report forms, training materials, project specific tools, analysis plans design, clinical trial reports and new drug applications.

• Assists in the preparation of materials for bid defense and customer engagements

• Participates in sponsor consulting opportunities through medical and development strategies when appropriate

• Interacts with inter-departmental and external consultants as appropriate.

• Participates in feasibility discussions relating to specific project proposals.

• Participates in project risk assessment activities.

• All other duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications(Minimum Required):

• MDE with residency training (or equivalent specialization) with substantial knowledge of drug development and extensive global clinical research project leadership and management experience within the pharmaceutical industry.

• Fortrea may consider relevant and equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirements.

Experience (Minimum Required):

• 15 or more years in global drug development (pharmaceutical, biotech or CRO);

• Recognized as a clinical research leader within/across their therapeutics areas.

• Demonstrated strategic thinking, focus and problem-solving ability.

• Substantial leadership and management experience at organizational, cross-functional and project portfolio management levels and deep knowledge of integrated global drug development.

Preferred Qualifications Include:

• MD who has completed a specialty fellowship, and who has global Pharma managerial and organizational leadership experience at a portfolio level across multiple therapeutic and functional areas. Knowledge of drug development and extensive clinical research experience within the pharmaceutical industry.

• 3 or more years in clinical / academic practice preferred.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

• Position can be home or office based in a Fortrea location.

• Flexibility to participate in client meetings across various time zones as needed to deliver business assignments and to support global business opportunities

Travel Requirements:

International travel on occasion with local expected travel in region

• Identify the expected travel requirements of the position on an annual basis:

• % of time: approximately 30% local travel expected up to 30% (estimated) for customer meetings and scientific conferences

• % of the above that requires overnight stay: 80%
