Job Description

  • Assist with IAS 19 pension financial reporting following established procedures at each quarter-end and year-end.
  • Assist with the management and preparation of actuarial valuations and costings conducted by external consultants for design, expense and forecasting purposes to effectively manage costs.
  • Manage the department’s response to internal and external audit requests related to pension matters and procedures (including under Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)). Update documentation on established procedures as required.
  • Review pension plan funding and solvency valuations and support the development of cash funding strategies.
  • Support reviews of pension plan design, including researching competitive market information to assist in policy decisions and analyzing the implications of policy changes.
  • Assist with preparing communication and education materials to support employee understanding and decision-making.
  • Assist with preparing presentation materials related to plan decisions and strategy for internal stakeholders and management.
  • Coordinate and manage the preparation of materials for the various pension fiduciary and governance committee meetings and – as required – participate in these committees, whether as a member, an observer, or as Secretary.
  • Coordinate and manage the preparation and maintenance of plan documentation, including plan texts, amendments, etc.
  • Support special projects such as due-diligence activities, stress testing, ALM studies, annuity purchases, lump sum offerings, and other ad hoc projects.
