About the School – St. Andrews International School, Sukhumvit 107 St. Andrews S107 is situated on a large, green campus located next to Bearing BTS station in Bangkok. The school caters for the Nursery to Year 13 age range and has approximately 700 students for over 40 different nationalities. In Primary, our curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum, and embraces the learner-centred and enquiry-based principles of the IB Primary Years Programme. In Secondary, St. Andrews S107 uses the English National Curriculum, leading to IGCSEs and the IB Diploma Programme. We also offer pathways such as BTECs and the IBCP for those who would benefit. About the role Responsible to : Secondary Learning support coordinator has overall responsibility for members of the Learning Support (LS) team. Main Responsibility : The LSA works predominantly in one area of the school and supports the students with learning needs. This may include a variety of different support structures e.g. 1:1 support of a student within class, shared support within class, 1:1 withdrawal session, delivering alternative programmes of study to small groups outside the mainstream classes. Contact time with students will be stipulated as deemed necessary by the school. Specific duties may include: Identifying goals with the Head of Learning support/Head of Inclusion for individual students with learning needs. Develops a number of strategies and adaptations both inside and outside the classroom to engage the student and encourage learning and progression. Produces differentiated work for students with learning needs when appropriate Works as a member of the LS team, sharing and supporting each other Establishes constructive relationships with students and interacts with them according to their individual needs. Encourages students to act independently to support their self-esteem Undertake student record keeping, monitoring students’ responses to learning activities and maintains appropriate systems within the LS department and the whole school Attends LS Meetings, school meetings, professional development days as required Takes advantage of opportunities for personal professional development Motivates students with LS to achieve their personal best. Advocates for students' best interests, liaise with families and teachers to encourage positive school experiences. Is a positive role model for students with LS and peers. Assisting in implementing the Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for students and helping them to progress with their targets. Taking initiative to consistently develop the LS support program and being able to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team Position Requirements The Learning Support assistants experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviours required to succeed in performing the role include: Experience working with students in a school environment Good understanding of the general aspect of child development Good communication skills, and a personable manner. An ability to use clear language to communicate information Flexible Good reading and writing skills, ability to write basic reports Good numeracy skills Good time management, Initiative to prioritise tasks Proactive A high level of professionalism, confidentiality and discretion Taking initiative to consistently develop the LS support program and being able to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team Administrative and organisational skills The ability to work well as part of a team, and to work in close collaboration with their line manager Work within the school's mission, ethos, policies and curriculum programme.
