Job Description
Preferred Minimum Qualifications:
1. An IT-related college degree or certification(s) related to IT or similar field preferred
2. Experience working in education environment preferred
3. Excellent customer service skills
4. Good past record of attendance and punctuality
Job Goals:
The IT Computer/Hardware Technician provides customer service support to all end users in School District 8. This individual troubleshoots problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provides end user training and assistance as required. This individual regularly installs new computer systems and software, configures, diagnoses, repairs, and upgrades district technology, hardware, software, peripherals, and other equipment to ensure the optimal performance of all systems district wide. This individual is responsible for installing, managing, and maintaining district hardware to include new network cabling, audio, and visual equipment such as projectors, sound, and interactive classroom technology . This individual works collaboratively with building principals, teachers, and district administrators concerning the most effective implementation of various technologies.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Provide excellent customer service that is kind courteous, timely, efficient, and solution oriented to all (staff, students, parents & guests) end users.
2. Receives and responds to incoming emails/phone calls or work orders regarding computers, software, projectors, phones, printers, interactive hardware, and other technology related problems.
3. Accurately documents work orders, user assistance requests, hardware failures, repairs, installations, and equipment removals in the ticket system.
4. Installs, configures, tests, and maintains technology hardware, software and peripheral devices.
5. Maintains, updates, and tracks inventory of equipment,
6. Installs all new network cabling and makes changes for existing infrastructure when required .
7. Install and maintain interactive white boards, TVs wall/ceiling mounted projectors, document cameras, sound systems, and any associated audio/visual equipment.
8. Installs, repairs, and maintains district printers and faxes.
9. Recommends, schedules, and performs computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment improvements and upgrades.
10. Performs on-site analysis, diagnoses, and resolves complex problems for a variety of end users; recommends and implements corrective hardware solutions, including off -site repair as needed.
11. Works with Technology Services personnel and vendors to order and obtain parts and supplies as needed.
12. Provides assistance to other members of the Technology Services Department as required.
13. Work occasional weekends, late evening and/or early morning shifts to cover events.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
1. Knowledge of network environments
2. Knowledge of technologies available for use in instructional setting
3. Knowledge and experience with installing ceiling and wall mounted projectors, along with interactive instructional hardware
4. Knowledge of network cabling
5. Knowledge of Windows OS, Google Workspace, Chrome OS
6. Ability to repair computer and technology equipment
7. Excellent problem-solving skills
8. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

1. Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals
Salary:
Computer Technicians are on the Classified Salary Schedule.
- FFC8 allows new hires to bring in up to 8 years of previous experience in similar school type settings
- Please understand that new hires tend to start out at the lower end of the salary range.
