Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

 

The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment serves as a member of the Superintendent's leadership team and provides strategic direction for all instructional and academic programs within SAU 72, 86, and 301. The position ensures that curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning systems align with system goals, state standards, and accountability expectations.

 

The Director oversees the system's academic areas, including curriculum and instruction, professional development, federal programs, accountability, and assessment. This role leads system-wide school improvement efforts, supports principals and instructional coaches, and ensures continuous improvement in teaching and learning to maximize student success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Instructional Leadership

  1. Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs aligned with goals and state standards.
  2. Promotes research-based instructional practices that support high levels of teaching effectiveness and student learning.
  3. Leads system initiatives designed to improve student academic achievement and close performance gaps among student groups.
  4. Ensures alignment of curriculum, assessment, and instruction at Alton Central and Barnstead Elementary as well as Prospect Mountain.

School Improvement and Accountability

  1. Oversees system-wide academic improvement initiatives. 
  2. Analyzes student performance data and assessment results to guide instructional strategies and program improvements collaboratively.
  3. Supports continuous improvement efforts in schools. 

 

Departmental Leadership

  1. Directly supervises the Dean of Students, instructional coaches, and interventionists.
  2. Provides direction and professional support to administrators and staff.
  3. Oversees the effective implementation of academic programs and services across the district.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

  1. Prepares and presents reports related to academic performance, instructional programs, and system initiatives to the School Boards.
  2. Communicates with principals, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders regarding district academic initiatives and progress.
  3. Attend school board meetings and participate in district leadership meetings and professional development activities.

Professional Development

  1. Provides leadership in the design and implementation of system-wide professional development initiatives.
  2. Monitors current educational research, instructional trends, and legislative developments affecting public education.
  3. Advises the Superintendent and system leadership team regarding emerging best practices and policy implications.

Additional Duties

  1. Performs special projects and other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Meets NH certification requirements or is certifiable. 
  • Master's degree with emphasis in educational leadership or curriculum administration.
  • Five years of education and/or related experiences, including significant administrative/supervisory, assessment, curriculum, and instruction experience that demonstrates capabilities in data analysis, decision-making, planning, and program evaluation.
  • Evidence of leadership capabilities and performance.

SALARY RANGE:

$120,000 - $130,000
