Recruiting Specialist
Job Description
Recruiting Specialist
Location: Massillon & Millersburg, Ohio
Mast Trucking is hiring a Recruiting Specialist to help identify, engage, and qualify candidates for our CDL Training Program and driver recruiting efforts.
This position can be an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to develop valuable business, communication, interviewing, recruiting, and people skills while gaining exposure to multiple areas of a growing company.
This is a people-focused, results-driven role for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, learning new skills, and being held accountable to results. The right person will play a key role in helping qualified candidates take the next step in the recruiting process while supporting the continued growth of our training program.
What You'll Do
Candidate Communication & Relationship Building
Contact and engage candidates through phone calls, text messages, email, and other communication channels.
Build trust and establish strong relationships with prospective candidates.
Understand candidate motivations, goals, concerns, and challenges.
Help candidates determine whether Mast Trucking and our CDL Training Program are the right fit for them.
Provide a positive and professional candidate experience throughout the recruiting process.
Recruiting & Pipeline Management
Review applications and candidate information.
Assess candidate qualifications and eligibility requirements.
Maintain accurate candidate records within recruiting systems.
Move candidates efficiently through the recruiting process.
Follow up consistently and professionally to improve interview attendance and conversion rates.
Utilize recruiting systems, technology, and data to manage your pipeline and improve results.
Track performance, identify trends, and look for opportunities to improve the recruiting process.
Team & Business Support
Support recruiting initiatives, projects, and continuous improvement efforts.
Assist with administrative responsibilities that support recruiting and training efforts.
Collaborate closely with recruiters, trainers, operations leaders, and other departments across the company.
Learn the business, industry, and recruiting process to continually expand your impact and responsibilities.
What Success Looks Like
Consistently achieving recruiting goals and performance expectations.
Building strong relationships with candidates while maintaining accountability.
Learning quickly and continuously improving.
Taking ownership of results and following through on commitments.
Effectively managing multiple candidates and priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Solving challenges, adapting to change, and looking for ways to improve.
Earning increased responsibility through strong performance and demonstrated growth.
Who Thrives Here
The people who tend to do well in this role are:
Competitive and motivated to improve.
Comfortable talking with new people every day.
Curious and naturally interested in understanding what motivates others.
Emotionally intelligent and able to read people well.
Coachable and open to feedback.
Comfortable being measured by goals, scorecards, and performance expectations.
Resilient when dealing with rejection, setbacks, and difficult conversations.
Interested in building valuable business and people skills that create future opportunities.
This Role Is Not For Everyone
If you're looking for a role primarily focused on paperwork, compliance, filing, policies, or administrative HR responsibilities, this probably isn't the right fit. Success in this role is measured by results. Candidates will miss appointments. They'll stop responding. They'll change their minds. Sometimes they'll tell you one thing and do another. You'll need to stay organized, follow up consistently, navigate obstacles, and continue moving candidates through the process.
You'll have goals to achieve, problems to solve, and situations that require sound judgment rather than a simple checklist.
The people who thrive here are resilient, adaptable, emotionally intelligent, accountable, and motivated by growth, challenge, and results.
Growth & Opportunity
As Mast continues to grow, so do the opportunities within it.
People who perform, take ownership, and consistently produce results often earn increased responsibility over time. That may include interviewing responsibilities, expanded recruiting responsibilities, leadership opportunities, or other career paths throughout the company.
Qualifications
High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Professional office, customer service, recruiting, sales, leadership, or related experience is helpful but not required.
Comfortable learning new technology and systems.
Ability to travel between Massillon and Millersburg locations.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
