POSITION DETAILS:

Morning and/or afternoon shifts available: 6:30am - 8:30am and/or 3:00pm - 6:00pm. Flexible scheduling available! This position is great for college students or candidates desiring part time work. Training provided!

STIPENDS!

Monthly Employee Attendance Program
Employees can receive $100 per month for meeting attendance requirements. 

School Break Stipends
Employees can receive stipends after the three school breaks, paid at their daily for five days at Fall and Spring break and seven days at winter break! 

Back to School Retention Stipend
Employees can receive a Back to School Retention stipend of $250 paid out to those who worked the last day of the previous school year and return to work the current school year for 60 days.

North Side Stipend
Employees can receive a stipend of $250 per quarter paid out to those who worked at a site that faces ongoing challenges such as chronic waiting lists, staffing shortages, and high enrollment. This stipend will be awarded to all current and new regularly appointed employees who work at Highland, McCutchanville, Oak Hill, and Scott. To qualify, employees must have worked or been in a paid status for at least 90% of the quarter.

A year of service annual increase will be provided to employees who have completed 120 working days in a paid status per school year based on the board approved salary schedule. New employees will begin on year 1. 

BENEFITS:

 

Employees who work 5.5 hours per day or more:
EVSC offers four (4) Anthem medical insurance plans. Single medical, dental and vision insurance are provided with this position. Click here to view the rates for each plan. If elected, insurance coverage begins the first of the month following the successful completion of a 30-day probationary period. 
 

Employees enrolled in an EVSC medical insurance plan are eligible to use any of the three EVSC Health & Wellness Centers. The health clinics provide primary care services, generic prescription medications, physicals, health screenings, and labs; all at NO COST to the employee or covered family member.

This position will automatically be enrolled in the Public Employees' Retirement Fund (PERF) through the state of Indiana, which includes a defined benefit (Pension) as well as an Annuity Savings Account (ASA). Employees may also participate in a 403(b) Plan. Enrolling in the 403(b) plan allows employees to save for their retirement by making a pre-tax salary deferral contributions to the Plan.
Eligible employees may enroll in the EVSC group life insurance and long term disability plans. EVSC also offers a variety of voluntary insurance products through American Fidelity. 
 

EVSC employees have access to the EVSC Wee Care Learning Centers. The Wee Care program provides a quality early learning experience for employees' children as young as six weeks through age five at a special employee rate.

ADDITIONAL 
INFORMATION:
This position is based upon student enrollment in the Extended Day Center program. Fluctuating student enrollment may make it necessary to move an employee to another school building or reduction in hours. Enrollment is evaluated at the start of a new school year. The EVSC works diligently to ensure employees maintain the position that they are hired for but in some cases, transfers may occur in order to effectively serve EVSC students.

SUMMARY:  
Provides care and supervision for children attending the ED Center Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of enrichment opportunities and tutoring for enrolled students
  • Assist in the maintaining discipline and other functions of students
  • Assist with and maintains a safe and healthy environment for students
  • Provide childcare for a group of students
  • Assist in maintaining daily attendance/snack reports
  • Receive direction from the Coordinator as to other duties
  • Maintain good attendance


JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Previous work in child care.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of School Trustees.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises students in EDC program.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree. Two-years previous experience in childcare preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must be certified annually in First Aid/CPR


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to create business correspondence to parents.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to parents, staff and state and local departments.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage.


REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
