About the role
The Market Risk Intern will gain exposure to the middle office functions within an oil trading environment, including market risk management, product control, and business analytics. The intern will support the Market Risk team in delivering key risk reporting, enhancing market data processes, and improving analytical tools.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop a strong understanding of trading risk frameworks, P&L analytics, and the operational processes that underpin a global trading business
Key responsibilities
- Support market risk and product control activities, including monitoring and reporting of trading positions and P&L.
- Assist with market data enhancement initiatives to improve data quality and integrity.
- Contribute to process optimisation and automation of existing workflows.
- Support the development of business analytics tools and reporting frameworks.
- Work with stakeholders across trading, analytics, and operations to support business needs
Qualifications & Experience
- Undergraduate students (e.g. Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business or related disciplines).
- Interest in commodity markets and trading environments.
- Knowledge & Skills
- Keen interest in understanding market risk and product control within a trading business.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in data analysis, process improvement, and automation.
- Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, VBA, SQL) is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
