Company Description
Boskalis is a leading global dredging and marine contractor. We design and build infrastructure in and around water, such as ports, waterways, offshore energy installations and coastal protection projects. We also develop and operate a large fleet of specialised vessels to carry out this work worldwide. Working at Boskalis means contributing to solutions that support global trade, enable the energy transition and protect coastlines. In a world where population growth, rising energy demand and climate change are key challenges, we create innovative, sustainable solutions for complex maritime projects.
Job Description
Offshore projects run only as smoothly as their vessels. Whether it’s installing wind farms, laying cables or transporting offshore structures, everything depends on reliable equipment and well-prepared vessels. As an Offshore Energy Fleet Trainee at Boskalis in Papendrecht, you play a role in making that happen. You contribute to the performance, maintenance, compliance and improvement of a diverse offshore fleet operating worldwide.
What you can expect
As a trainee, you will work on engineering and operational projects within our offshore fleet department. Some projects start months in advance in the office before moving to shipyards or project locations abroad for execution. Others focus on supporting day-to-day fleet operations together with technical superintendents. To understand how offshore operations work in practice, you may also spend time on board vessels during projects, gaining direct experience of offshore construction and installation activities. This combination of office work, site work and operational exposure gives you broad insight into offshore projects and fleet management.
Depending on your assignment, you may help prepare maintenance and modification projects, support vessel conversions and dry-docking activities, or assist in the technical management of vessels and equipment. You could be involved in projects on cable-laying vessels, heavy lift vessels, construction support vessels or diving support vessels operating around the world, supporting offshore wind farm installations, subsea cable-laying operations and large-scale marine construction projects.
The programme
The 12-month Fleet Traineeship prepares you for roles as a Technical Superintendent or Project Engineer within our offshore fleet organisation. A Technical Superintendent focuses on the day-to-day technical performance and reliability of vessels, while a Project Engineer coordinates technical work across different project phases. As a trainee, you will set development goals and work toward them throughout the programme. Focused on personal and professional development, you will complete two tailored assignments. During your traineeship, you will work with experienced colleagues, receive guidance from a mentor and complete training courses.
