GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Health and Wellness Development Specialist designs and develops evidence-based clinical and health education content and health and wellness promotion initiatives, using innovative strategies and diverse communication channels to achieve the objectives of the Health and Wellness Promotion Unit. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Evaluate and design content for health and clinical education programs based on the needs of the target audience and apply the health literacy guidelines. • Designs and tailors the development of health education and clinical content based on the communication channels (email marketing, social media, learning management system, webinars, print, website, or other) to be used and the target audience. Reviews literature for designing scientific evidence-based interventions based on program or initiative goals. • Adapts evidence-based interventions based on the characteristics and needs of the target population. • Responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating population health management and health literacy initiatives to improve the quality of health care indicators and chronic conditions management. • Develop guidelines for implementing educational interventions and health risk reduction programs, including curriculums, identified resources, materials, processes, and evaluation indicators according to the target audience assigned. • Trains staff in the education and wellness unit to implement health promotion interventions and initiatives. • Identifies, evaluates, and establishes agreements for implementing health promotion initiatives that help us achieve the goals of the Health Promotion and Wellness Unit in collaboration with public or private entities. • Identifies expert resources for implementing interventions. • Implements wellness or provider education initiatives as assigned by the department. • Trains internal and external staff in developing health education interventions and initiatives according to the assigned target audience. • Creates, updates, and proposes health content for the company website and social media channels. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: • Must comply fully and consistently with all company policies and procedures, with local and federal laws as well as with the regulations applicable to our Industry, to maintain appropriate business and employment practices. • May carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned, according to the requirements of education and experience contained in this document. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Health Education, Public Health, Education in Community Health, or related fields. At least two (2) years of experience implementing educational interventions and designing educational materials, preferably in the health insuranceindustry. Certifications / Licenses: A valid Health Educator License from the Puerto Rico Department of Health is required. A Driver's License valid in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is required. The Health Education Specialist (CHES) credential is considered a plus. Other: Availability to travel around the Island, conducting occasional field work, and ensuring educational initiatives are properly implemented.
