Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Mechatronics Engineer to support the development, integration, and maintenance of advanced robotic and automation systems used in proprietary oligonucleotide synthesis and biotech manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across mechanical, electrical, controls, and automation disciplines in a fast-paced R&D and manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will contribute to the design, assembly, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of robotic systems, automated equipment, and electromechanical devices that support DNA/RNA synthesis operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated electromechanical and robotic systems
  • Support proprietary oligonucleotide synthesis robotic systems and automated manufacturing platforms
  • Perform robotic system assembly, integration, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Develop mechanical and electrical designs using SolidWorks
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring layouts, mechanical assemblies, and BOMs
  • Integrate sensors, motors, actuators, pneumatic systems, motion controls, PLCs, and embedded controllers
  • Assist in prototype development, equipment upgrades, and process automation initiatives
  • Support installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair of automation equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues in manufacturing and laboratory environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, process engineering, software, and R&D teams
  • Prepare technical documentation, SOPs, assembly instructions, and engineering reports
  • Support continuous improvement and scale-up activities for automated synthesis system

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or related field
  • 1–5 years of industry experience in automation, robotics, mechatronics, or related engineering fields
  • Experience with SolidWorks for both mechanical and electrical design
  • Knowledge of automation systems, robotics, and motion control systems
  • Understanding of sensors, actuators, pneumatics, motor controls, and embedded systems
  • Hands-on experience with equipment assembly, integration, and troubleshooting
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial robotic systems and robotic assembly
  • Experience supporting biotech, life science, or laboratory automation equipment
  • Familiarity with machine vision systems and smart manufacturing technologies
  • Experience with embedded controllers and microcontrollers
