Job Description
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION: Support lead teachers planning, coordinating and implementing activities for children in the CDLL. Supervise children in the classroom and on the playground. TYPICAL DUTIES: Greet children and parents daily for drop-off and pick-up. Ensure all materials and messages are ready in student mailboxes for parents daily. Prepare materials for teachers to implement daily plans, encourage curiosity and creativity of students through activities, and work cooperatively with CDLL staff and leadership. Supervise students and ensure the environment is safe, healthy, nurturing and orderly to promote growth and development. Assist teachers in directing and supporting students using hands-on child care techniques. Be knowledgeable of each student’s background and any special requirements to ensure a safe learning environment for each student. Under the direction of the lead teacher, communicate educational, developmental, personal information, progress and issues to parents. Support parents in addressing concerns of their children in the CDLL. Support the process of building a positive relationship between the home and the CDLL for each child that establishes parents as the most important influence in the child’s life. Ensure compliance with and model confidentiality and discretion in and out of the classroom setting regarding children, parents, staff, students and volunteers, following established policies, procedures, government regulations and guidelines. Participate in staff meetings, provide input on equipment purchases and ensure the restrooms are clean and sanitary. Serve as back-up for other duties and roles as assigned for coverage or emergencies. Support and participate in strategic initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
