Reporting directly to the Sr Manager, Training & Development, the Operations Training Specialist partners closely with business leaders, subject matter experts, and operational teams to design, develop, document, and deliver high‑quality technical training and learning solutions that enhance business operations.
This position will provide value-added advice, facilitation, and coordination, focusing on principles of continuous improvement and sharing of best practices to disseminate, train, and coach on solutions that business leaders will utilize and adopt in their regional project management practices.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Operations Training Specialist is responsible for the following:
Collaboration & Project Coordination
- Leads the development and deployment of enterprise initiatives aimed at benefiting regional operations.
- Collaborate with business partners, technical experts, and peers to ensure training materials align with desired learning outcomes
- Development of training project plans, including timelines, milestones, priorities, and resource requirements
- Provide training and support for core business applications and systems as required
- Provides timely and accurate training solutions for regions and project managers
Training Design & Delivery
- Design, develop, and facilitate high-quality technical training programs for new and existing employees
- Deliver instructor-led, virtual, classroom, and eLearning courses aligned with business needs
- Define training solutions based on training needs analysis, operational requirements, and feedback from stakeholders
- Develop and maintain technical training materials, presentations, job aids, user guides, and manuals
- Incorporate participant feedback and evaluation results to continuously improve learning solutions
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing business focused solutions within construction, utilities, service, or facilities management
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction, facilities management and/or utilities is required
- Education in construction management, engineering, operations, or related discipline
- Strong experience creating project plans and structured programs
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proven presentation and facilitation ability
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret technical information and translate it into practical learning solutions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual in English and French (written and verbal) an asset
- Project Management certification (or related certifications) considered an asset
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Proven ability to build credible, collaborative relationships across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with project or construction management software (ideally Procore) is a strong asset

The expected salary range for this role is between $75,000 - $90,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
