The Department of Finance and Management Science in the Edwards School of Business invites applications for Sessional Lecturers to teach the following courses during the following sessions: 2026-2027 Regular Session – Term 1 (Fall Session) Course Number, Section, and Name: COMM 203.3 (05, 17) – Introduction to Finance Course Description: Deals with the functions of the financial manager, including the problems and techniques of financial decision-making. Topics include: goals of the firm, management of working capital, financial problems and decisions involving intermediate and long-term financing, capital budgeting under certainty, and capital structure as it relates to weighted average cost of capital. Term and Course Dates: Term 1 (September to December) CRN: 80519, 80522 Delivery Mode: Lecture Course Schedule: Section (05): Tuesdays and Thursdays; 11:30 am to 12:50 pm Section (17): Wednesdays; 5:30 pm – 8:50 pm Expected Enrollment Limit: 70 in each section Location: Saskatoon 2026-2027 Regular Session – Term 2 (Winter Session) Course Number, Section, and Name: COMM 129.3 (18) – Personal Financial Management Course Description: Teaches students how to analyze personal goals and assess the financial implications of these goals, determine personal net worth, analyze financial products and services, and understand investment alternatives appropriate to individuals and families. In addition, this course explains personal taxation, insurance contracts to protect the life styles of families, financial alternatives in retirement, and estate planning. Term and Course Dates: Term 2 (January - April) CRN: 32955 Delivery Mode: Lecture Course Schedule: Tuesdays; 5:30 pm to 8:50 pm Expected Enrollment Limit: 70 Location: Saskatoon Course Number, Section, and Name: COMM 393.3 (02, 04) – Spreadsheet Modeling for Business Decisions Course Description: Deals with modelling business problems to help managers make better decisions regardless of their functional areas. It introduces students to analytical decision making tools including linear programming, integer programming, network models, decision analysis and simulation. Spreadsheets will be extensively used for solving managerial problems. Term and Course Dates: Term 2 (January - April) CRN: 24599, 24600 Delivery Mode: Lecture Course Schedule: Section 02: Mondays and Wednesdays; 2:30 pm to 3:50 pm Section 04: Mondays and Wednesdays; 4:00 pm to 5:20 pm Expected Enrollment Limit: 35 in each section Location: Saskatoon Qualifications: Consistent with its goal of achieving business school accreditation, Edwards will recruit those individuals with initial academic preparation (including a graduate degree), professional experience and ongoing professional engagement deemed sufficiently strong for granting the candidate Instructional Practitioner status. Professional experience must be current and substantial in terms of duration and level of responsibility and clearly linked to the field in which the candidate is expected to teach. Professional engagement activities must be substantive and sustained at levels that support currency and relevance for Edwards' mission. A valid driver’s license is required for any off-campus courses. Appointment periods include additional days in recognition of preparation and marking time required. Courses may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
