Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA) is the premier online learning provider powered by the Chester County Intermediate Unit for students, families, schools and programs seeking flexible, customized learning solutions. BVA is unique in that students benefit from the opportunities provided by their local schools and graduate with a diploma from their home district all while learning through our comprehensive online program. BVA maintains strong partnerships with schools and families to ensure students receive equitable access to the academic, social and emotional support they need to succeed while learning online. Our dedicated, experienced, Pennsylvania-certified teachers and staff offer a holistic approach to online learning. To drive academic engagement and achievement for all students, we strive to design highly interactive, innovative, and accessible learning environments centered on authentic learning experiences and personalized support.
BVA is currently seeking exceptional, diverse and passionate online instructors certified to teach K-8 Music. This position will work within the Brandywine Virtual Academy division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit in Downingtown, PA and serve students from across Pennsylvania in a dynamic online classroom.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor level degree in education required
Experience teaching students in an online environment preferred.
PDE Music teaching certification for grades K-12 required; Special Education Certification preferred
Excellent technology proficiency required. Including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, Virtual Meeting Platforms, Learning Management Systems and Student Information Systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong skills in working with students, families and partner schools and districts.
Current within one year FBI, PA State and Child Abuse Clearance
Duties & Responsibilities:
Continuously pursues knowledge and skills related to online learning and pedagogy.
Demonstrates an understanding of effective time management strategies.
Maintains accurate records of relevant information and communications in the appropriate format.
Designs and implements engaging, student-centered, live, and asynchronous online instruction for students according to the provided schedule for each course taught.
Utilize digital pedagogical tools and innovative technologies to support student learning and career readiness, while providing basic technical troubleshooting for the online environment.
Foster a collaborative online community by employing learner-centered strategies and group interactions that promote higher-order thinking and active learning among diverse students.
Model and promote digital citizenship by establishing clear standards for safe interaction, netiquette, and academic integrity in the virtual classroom.
Meets the learning needs of all learners, regardless of cultural background and perspective.
Engages learner agency.
Maintains regular communication with students, parents and guardians, establishing relationships through timely and encouraging communication, using various formats.
Helps learners reach content mastery through instruction and quality feedback using various formats.
Effectively assists students with the transition to online learning by providing the necessary course resources and the information needed to navigate the online environment.
Models and complies with intellectual property policies and fair-use standards and reinforces their use with learners.
Implements policies, including federal, state, and program-level policies (where applicable), designed to protect learners in the classroom and follows program and classroom Acceptable Use Policies (AUP).
Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to monitor student progress, identify engagement patterns, and customize instruction or interventions to meet individual learner needs.
Possesses a knowledge of and ability to apply the principles of Universal Design for Learning.
Creates alternative formats of course materials and assessments, if needed, to meet the needs of diverse learners and accommodate alternative means of access.
Provides additional opportunities for personalized learner growth or enrichment.
Provides a forum for sharing the varied talents and skills that learners bring to the online environment.
Evaluates learner readiness and progress using formative and summative assessments and learner feedback throughout the course.
Creates opportunities for learner self-assessment within courses.
Designs learning experiences that use technology to efficiently engage learners.
Incorporate subject-specific, diverse and developmentally appropriate digital learning resources into online learning modules.
Creates, selects, and organizes appropriate assignments and assessments to align curricular content with associated standards-based learning goals.
Exhibits exceptional collaboration and initiation skills with students, colleagues, families and partners.
Contribute to IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students.
Provide specially designed instruction for eligible special education students.
Lead assigned homerooms and Wellness Check-Ins.
Prepare educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required
Plan curriculum and lessons, including developing courses, and both synchronous and asynchronous instruction, interventions and enrichment.
Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress.

Salary 2026-2027 school year:
- $62,155 to $89,730- Instructional I Certification
- $64,834 to $93,324 - Instructional II Certification
- $69,353 to $101,911 - Master's Degree
- $72,740 to $105,924 � Master's + 15
- $74,415 to $107,845 - Masters + 30
Location:
- This is an in-office position, five-day work week, three days in the office, two-days work from home. Hours are 8:00-3:30pm.
