Summary:
The Head Start Practice-Based Coach is primarily responsible for assuring the Chester County Intermediate Unit's (CCIU) implementation of Head Start education and disabilities services in accordance with the Head Start Act of 2007 and the Head Start Program Performance Standards; and coaching all education staff in improving and strengthening their instructional strategies, student outcomes, and relationships with families. The Practice Based Coach will coach staff in effective relationships, resources, and goals in a supportive, non-evaluative manner.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Understand, apply and analyze implications of the Head Start Act of 2007 and the Head Start Program Performance Standards for the delivery of education and disabilities services.
- Support the Education and Disabilities components of Early Head Start in accordance with the Head Start Act of 2007 and the Head Start Performance Standards.
- Recommend revisions to written plans for implementing services in the components of education and disabilities.
- Assist in the development and revision of annual School Readiness Goals with Head Start staff.
- Provide direct support, both in person and virtually, for assigned Early Head Start staff throughout the period determined by coaching goals
- Coach the Head Start Staff; Developing goals with the assigned staff based on evidence based observation tools and Head Start Program Performance Standards
- Develop and implement training materials, including written and visual resources, for staff, assuring that staff understands the Head Start Act of 2007 and the Performance Standards.
- Actively mentor assigned staff to ensure superior implementation of the Head Start Act and Performance Standards.
- Complete CLASS and ITERS evaluations in each classroom in collaboration with the program supervisors.
- Facilitate Professional Development focused on needs assessments.
- Visit each assigned classroom on a regular basis.
- Provide immediate, thorough, and on-going feedback to teaching staff based on observations and staff-provided information.
- Assist with development of classroom schedules, printable materials, documentation tools, and other materials that will support the growth and development of enrolled students while supporting staff development.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field required, ECE strongly preferred
- 3+ years teaching experience in a preschool setting required, 5+ years strongly preferred
Professional or Other Required Clearances
- Valid Driver's License & reliable transportation required
- Current police, child abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances within 1 year required
Salary Range:
Project, Head Start, $62,816 - $80,288/yr.
* Placement on band is based on years of direct experience in a comparable role.
260 day position, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week
