Job Description
Position: Special Education Cluster Coordinator Department Head
Job Description: The Cluster Coordinator supports students and staff in substantially separate programs across
the district through consultation, modeling, coaching, and program development.
Qualifications:
1. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major emphasis on Special
Education, Social Work or curriculum and instruction.
2. Appropriate Massachusetts Licensure.
3. Preference will be given to those candidates who present evidence of substantial experience in
classroom settings supporting students with disabilities.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist classroom staff on establishing classroom structure/routines appropriate for their population of
students.
- Coach/mentor classroom staff on best practices in instruction and intervention for students with
disabilities to close achievement gaps
- Support teachers in developing lesson plans using the district provided curriculum
- Train and support classroom teachers developing appropriate individualized education plans with
measurable goals.
- Assist teachers in developing a system for progress monitoring and data collection.
- Facilitate appropriate PD and PLCs for disability strands.
- Support teachers in analyzing data (academic and behavior) and using data to inform instruction and
intervention.
- Provide regular parent consultation and communication
- Consult with related services providers to facilitate generalization into the classroom setting.
- Consult with BCBA to support behavior intervention in the classroom.
- Identify and maintain community based partnerships to meet students' academic, transition and social
emotional needs.
- Facilitate inclusion opportunities for students as deemed appropriate
- Oversee MCAS (standard, portfolio and alt) for students in the program
- Support new student transition into the programs
- Conduct home visits as appropriate
- Maintain safety care certification
- Additional duties as assigned by the Office of Special Education
The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an
acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be
shared with the Fall River School Committee.
Reports To: The Assistant Superintendent of Special Education or their designee
Supervises: Supervises and evaluates staff in special programs as directed.

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the FRAA Bargaining Unit Contract.
