Job Description
License and Certification Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia driver's license Required
Education Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree or equivalent Required
- Bachelor's Degree in related field Preferred
Experience Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in construction, architecture, engineering, or a related field Required
- Experience in supervising construction or maintenance personnel and project management Preferred

Primary Responsibilities:
Coordinate with architects, engineers, private contractors, and sub-contractors to construct new schools, additions, and renovations in an efficient manner while remaining within schedule and budget requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, private contractors, sub-contractors, governmental agencies, public utilities, and GCPS Facilities and Operations staff to facilitate site and building construction for assigned projects.
- Perform project administration duties involving the review of construction pay applications, contracts, change orders, and schedules for assigned projects.
- Conduct regular site visits to coordinate with design/construction team to manage project schedule, workmanship, and quality to ensure that contract requirements are met.
- Manage, coordinate, inspect, verify and analyze installed work projects funded by SPLOST for the Construction and Contracts Engineering Department
- Utilize the electronic work order system to administer and track all projects assigned and completed, including relevant cost data
- Facilitate with Facility Planning and the design/construction team to resolve constructability and design issues as cost efficiently as possible, including performing plan reviews to identify errors and ensure conformance with GCPS standards for future school buildings, renovations and site work
- Provide planning and estimating support needed to develop sufficiently detailed work scopes for use by the Director of Construction and Contracts Engineering and Facility Planning Departments
- Coordinate the commissioning, move-in, and delivery of completed school facilities to ensure a smooth, on-time transition to the school administrators and other Facilities and Operations departments.
- Coordinate the timely close-out of assigned construction projects by assembling the final construction documents including record drawings, project manuals, warranties, and financial records to conclude the construction project
- Communicate the status of assigned projects to the Director of Construction and Contracts Engineering as needed.
- Monitor contractor performance on SPLOST funded capital improvement projects, renovations and contracts relative to timeliness of performance, quality of workmanship, knowledge of the work, and adherence to the budget
- Review and discuss SPLOST planned projects with the Facilities and Operations Area Managers to maximize use of contracted and in-house personnel for repair, renovation, and expansion contracts
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, negotiate stairs, climb ladders, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear, manipulate tools and small items with hands, and lift and transport up to 50 pounds over short distances. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. The employee may be subjected to a wide range of ambient temperature and humidity conditions while working on equipment under varying conditions including overhead work and work in confined spaces. Potential hazards of this position include working with electricity, working with heat and noise producing machinery and equipment, working on elevated equipment using ladders or other lifting devices, and use of chemicals and solvents.
