Job Description

Duties include:

  • Assist school leadership with aligning schoolwide systems, processes, and resources to structured literacy as defined by Georgia Early Literacy Act
  • Assist school leadership with providing regular and user-friendly data reports to internal and external school stakeholders
  • Facilitate and lead structured coaching cycles with teachers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment that includes goal setting, modeling, lesson observation, constructive feedback, and reflective discussions to enhance literacy instruction and student outcomes
  • Provide monthly reports related to the literacy components of the school improvement plan
  • Provide ongoing, job-embedded professional development to teachers through coaching cycles, including observation, modeling, and co-teaching
  • Conference with teachers identified for additional support to create, implement, and monitor goals and plans for improving practice
  • Spend a minimum of 70% of the workday in classrooms supporting instruction and assisting teachers in implementing a "high-quality instructional stack" that includes core reading programs, supplemental materials, and intervention tools grounded in the science of reading. Maintain an organized system for documenting coaching services
  • Assist K-3 teachers in addressing grade specific curriculum by developing an effective school-wide literacy plan and providing strategies for monitoring the plan's implementation
  • Facilitate the use of universal literacy screeners to identify students at risk for reading failure, including those with characteristics of dyslexia
  • Support teachers in designing and delivering Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions for students identified as needing additional literacy support aligned to Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
  • Lead grade-level team meetings to analyze student work and help plan lessons that meet the needs of learners
  • Facilitate professional learning communities (PLC's) focused on literacy instruction
  • Stay current on the latest research in early literacy and attend all required state or district-mandated literacy coach training and actively participate in district meetings with the K-5 ELA Coordinator
  • Collaborates with Regional Structured Literacy Support Coaches to design and conduct professional development to meet the varied needs of K-3 teachers
  • Meet regularly with school leadership, other school-based coaches, and K-3 teachers to review data and make recommendations for adjustments in instructional practices
  • Maintains an organized system for documenting coaching services
  • Supports the vision and mission of Fayette County Public Schools and district leadership 

 

Salary is based on Fayette County Public School System's Educator Salary Scale.
