
Exceptional Children Self-Contained (ECS) Teacher
Job Description
A Union County Public Schools (UCPS) Self-Contained Exceptional Children (ECS) Teacher manages a specialized classroom for students with significant cognitive disabilities, often serving approximately 9-12 students with the support of two instructional assistants. The role involves implementing the Extended Content Standards curriculum, developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), data collection, and providing customized instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruction: Plan and deliver specialized instruction aligned with Extended Content Standards to meet diverse learning needs.
- Classroom Management: Manage a self-contained environment, often with 2 assistants, focusing on student safety and behavior support.
- Data & Assessment: Develop and implement data collection systems to track progress on IEP goals.
- Collaboration: Work with staff, parents, and administrators to foster student growth.
Qualifications
- Must hold active North Carolina certification in Exceptional Children.
- Experience with Adaptive Curriculum and significant cognitive disabilities is often required.
