Qualifications:
1. A valid State of Michigan Elementary & Secondary Administrator K-12 (ES) Certification or the ability to complete school administrator's continuing education requirement.
2. Master's Degree; with a major in Educational Administration preferred.
3. At least five (5) years of experience as a teacher.
4. Previous building administrator experience preferred
5. PowerSchool student management system experience preferred
6. 5D+ Rubric for Instructional Growth & Teacher Evaluation certification preferred
7. Capturing Kids' Hearts experience preferred
8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Supervises:
All certificated and support staff members within the school building.
Job Goal:
As the instructional leader, the principal is primarily responsible for increasing student achievement through the development and implementation of a coherent, standards-based instructional system aligned with district goals and Board of Education policies. The principal is also responsible for fostering a positive, safe, and supportive school climate. Under the general direction of the Superintendent, the principal provides leadership and oversight for student instruction, discipline, attendance, activities, supervision, and overall school operations, while performing other related duties as assigned.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Serve as an instructional leader by overseeing MICIP goals, curriculum implementation, behavioral systems, and professional learning to improve instruction and student achievement.
- Supervise, evaluate, and support staff; assist with hiring; and manage operations including staffing, scheduling, budgeting, technology, and facilities.
- Provide and coordinate student interventions related to academics, attendance, behavior, and transition services.
- Support student discipline, supervision, safety procedures, emergency response plans, and extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with families, staff, and community stakeholders to support student success and communicate district goals and expectations.
- Ensure compliance with Board policies, master agreements, and state/federal regulations, including special education requirements.
- Analyze and use student and staff data to guide decisions, improve supports, and monitor outcomes.
- Prepare and maintain required reports, documentation, handbooks, and procedural guidelines.
- Serve as a resource to staff regarding student management, instructional practices, and behavioral supports.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Terms of Employment:
- 200-240 days per year
- Salary range, appropriate to experiences and degrees held
