In School Suspension (ISS) Aide
Greenville Independent School District
Work Schedule: 187 Days
Wage-Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Campus Principal
Position Overview
Greenville ISD is seeking a dependable and student-centered In School Suspension (ISS) Aide to support campus discipline procedures and provide supervision for students assigned to ISS. This position helps maintain a structured and supportive environment that encourages student accountability, behavior improvement, and continued academic progress.
Primary Purpose
Provide supervision and instructional support for students assigned to In School Suspension (ISS) while maintaining a structured, safe, and orderly environment in accordance with campus and district expectations.
Qualifications
Education / Certification:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree or college hours preferred
- Completion of the ParaSkills Course through STEDI.org required (District paid)
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Ability to work effectively with students exhibiting behavioral challenges
- Strong classroom management and student supervision skills
- Ability to maintain a structured and orderly environment
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to work collaboratively with campus administration and staff
Experience:
- Experience working with children or adolescents preferred
- Experience in a school setting preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Student Supervision & Support
- Supervise students assigned to ISS throughout the school day
- Maintain a structured, safe, and orderly environment
- Monitor student behavior and reinforce campus expectations and rules
- Encourage positive behavior, accountability, and appropriate decision-making
Instructional Support
- Assist students with completion of assigned classroom work
- Communicate with teachers regarding assignments and student progress
- Ensure students remain on task and engaged in assigned academic activities
Behavior Management & Documentation
- Monitor and document student attendance, behavior, and completion of assignments
- Report behavioral concerns or incidents to campus administration
- Support campus discipline procedures and expectations
Collaboration & Communication
- Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, counselors, and support staff
- Communicate professionally with students, staff, and parents as appropriate
- Support campus initiatives related to student behavior and intervention
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in required district and campus training
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information
- Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise students assigned to ISS
Working Conditions
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, and monitoring of students
- Occasional lifting and movement of classroom materials

- Work in classroom and campus environments

- Ability to maintain emotional control and professionalism in challenging situations
- Ability to manage multiple student behaviors and responsibilities simultaneously
