POSITION: Elementary Performance Strategist - Turtle Mountain Community Elementary School

 

DEPARTMENT: School Improvement / Instructional Support / Elementary Education

 

REPORTS TO: TMES Principal, and TMCS District Administration

 

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 205-day school term, or as determined by the approved employment agreement and district need

 

LOCATION: Turtle Mountain Elementary School

 

RANGE OF SALARY: Based on the current Belcourt School District #7 Teacher's Negotiated Agreement and qualifications


 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Elementary Performance Strategist provides instructional, data, intervention, and school improvement support to Turtle Mountain Community Elementary School. This position works directly with administrators, teachers, interventionists, support staff, and school improvement teams to strengthen standards-based instruction, MTSS implementation, data-driven decision-making, instructional planning, progress monitoring, and student achievement.

 

The Elementary Performance Strategist assists staff in using assessment data to identify student needs, plan targeted instruction, monitor intervention effectiveness, and improve classroom instructional practices. This position supports the school's academic improvement efforts through coaching, collaboration, data analysis, professional learning, and implementation of research-based instructional strategies.


 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific to Data

 

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of student achievement data sources used at Turtle Mountain Community Elementary School.
  • Support teachers in using data to plan instruction for individual students, small groups, and whole-class needs.
  • Assist teachers in using assessment data to form instructional groups, differentiate instruction, and apply appropriate interventions.
  • Support the use of formative, benchmark, interim, progress monitoring, and summative assessments to guide instructional planning.
  • Assist with the design of short-term, targeted instruction based on student performance data.
  • Disaggregate, analyze, and interpret student achievement data to support administrators, teachers, grade-level teams, MTSS teams, and school improvement efforts.
  • Assist with the collection, organization, and presentation of student performance data for school improvement, MTSS, Title I, district reporting, and other required reporting purposes.

 

Specific to Instruction and Curriculum

 

  • Support the implementation of Turtle Mountain Community Elementary School curriculum, priority standards, and district instructional expectations.
  • Assist teachers with standards-based instruction, including alignment of lessons, objectives, instructional tasks, assessments, and student work to grade-level standards.
  • Support teachers in identifying the academic vocabulary, skills, and level of rigor required within grade-level standards.
  • Assist teachers with developing student goals, instructional plans, interventions, and progress monitoring procedures.
  • Support the use of research-based instructional strategies and evidence-based practices to improve student achievement.
  • Assist teachers in using formative assessment, checks for understanding, student work analysis, and progress monitoring to adjust instruction.
  • Promote culturally responsive, student-centered, and developmentally appropriate instructional practices that reflect the needs and strengths of Turtle Mountain Community Schools students and families.

 

Specific to Teacher Observation and Instructional Feedback

 

  • Conduct classroom observations, walkthroughs, and instructional reviews as assigned by TMES Administration to support teacher growth, instructional consistency, and school improvement goals.
  • Observe classroom instruction for evidence of standards-based instruction, lesson objective alignment, instructional rigor, checks for understanding, student engagement, intervention practices, and student work aligned to the lesson objective.
  • Provide timely, professional, and constructive feedback to teachers following observations or walkthroughs, consistent with district expectations and administrative direction.
  • Document observation trends, instructional strengths, and areas for improvement to support coaching, professional development, MTSS planning, and school improvement efforts.
  • Assist TMES Administration with teacher observation processes, instructional documentation, and follow-up support when assigned and when consistent with district policy, negotiated agreements, and applicable licensure requirements.

 

Specific to Coaching and Professional Support

 

  • Provide instructional coaching, modeling, feedback, and support to teachers as directed by TMES Administration and TMCS District Administration.
  • Support staff development related to school improvement goals, district instructional priorities, MTSS practices, standards-based instruction, assessment, and intervention.
  • Work with administrators and teachers to organize and support grade-level meetings, data meetings, PLCs, MTSS meetings, and school improvement meetings.
  • Support horizontal and vertical alignment of instruction across grade levels.
  • Model research-based instructional strategies and appropriate use of instructional technology and educational tools to enhance instruction.
  • Assist with communicating the school's instructional program, academic progress, and improvement efforts to staff, families, and stakeholders as assigned.

 

Other Duties

 

  • Serve as a member of the school referral team, MTSS team, and School Improvement Team as assigned.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the School Improvement Plan.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of professional development aligned to district and building needs.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by district policies, programs, grants, and compliance expectations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable student privacy, personnel, FERPA, FLSA, HIPAA, and district confidentiality requirements.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct, punctuality, reliability, positive communication, and ethical judgment.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and staff in areas of lawfulness, behavior, respect, and professional character.
  • Assist with building-level leadership duties when assigned by TMES Administration and when such duties are consistent with district policy and licensure requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by TMES Administration or TMCS District Administration.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Valid North Dakota Elementary Educator's Professional License required.
  • Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, Reading Assessment, School Improvement, or a closely related field required.
  • Minimum of three years of successful elementary classroom teaching experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of elementary curriculum, standards-based instruction, formative assessment, differentiated instruction, research-based instructional practices, intervention systems, MTSS, progress monitoring, and data-based decision-making.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting student assessment data, including state assessments, benchmark assessments, progress monitoring tools, and classroom-level data preferred.
  • Ability to support teachers through classroom observation, coaching, collaboration, modeling, feedback, and professional learning.
  • Ability to assist with student goal development, intervention planning, progress monitoring, and review of intervention effectiveness.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with students, staff, parents/guardians, administrators, and community members.
  • Ability to prepare reports, correspondence, instructional documents, observation notes, data summaries, and other written materials in a professional format.
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs, web-based platforms, email, assessment systems, documents, spreadsheets, and instructional technology tools.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with culturally responsive practices, trauma-informed practices, and working with Native American students and families preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound professional judgment, and demonstrate ethical decision-making.
  • Must pass a background check and meet all district employment requirements.
