Maintenance Director Edmonson County Schools

Contract Term: 260 Days
Compensation: Per District Classified Salary Schedule
Primary Supervisor: Superintendent (or designee)
Job Goal
To ensure all district facilities and grounds remain in a condition of operating excellence to provide students and staff with a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for learning.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED certificate as required by Kentucky law.
- Licensure: Must hold and maintain a valid Kentucky license in at least one of the following trades: HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical.
- Driving Requirement: Must hold a valid Kentucky Driver's License.
- Experience: 5�7 years of experience in building maintenance or construction, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience in a facility setting.
- Compliance: Successful completion of all state-mandated background checks and health examinations.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Facility Management: Oversee the daily operations of the maintenance department across all district locations for the full 260-day contract year.
- Personnel Supervision: Direct and evaluate the performance of maintenance and skilled trade staff.
- Budget & Resources: Manage the annual maintenance budget and inventory in accordance with the district's classified salary schedule and purchasing policies.
- Capital Projects: Serve as the district representative for major repairs, renovations, and new construction projects.
- Safety & Codes: Ensure all buildings comply with local, state (KRS/KAR), and federal (OSHA/ADA) regulations.
- Preventative Maintenance: Establish and monitor a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of: Building codes, safety regulations, and technical methods in the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades.
- Ability to: Read blueprints, estimate project costs, and manage a diverse team of classified employees.
Working Conditions
- This is a year-round (260-day) position requiring presence during school breaks and responsiveness to after-hours facility emergencies.
- Involves physical labor, including standing, bending, and lifting heavy objects.
