Middle School ECE Teacher 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Holds a valid teaching certificate for Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education 

REPORTS TO: 

Building Principal 

JOB GOAL: To create quality education programming for students in preschool and to coordinate activities of the state preschool partnership grant by maintaining a working relationship with parents, staff, and community partners.

 SUPERVISES: Instructional Assistant

 PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides professional leadership within the school, community, and education profession to improve student learning as well as support district and state initiatives.

  1. Demonstrates content knowledge within assigned discipline(s) or program and in applications to other disciplines.
  2. Plans, implements and assesses instruction designed to develop students abilities to use certain skills, apply core concepts, become self-sufficient individuals, become responsible team members, think and solve problems and integrate knowledge.
  3. Assesses student learning using a variety of tools consistent with Kentucky's Assessment Program; communicates results to students, parents and staff making referrals for extra services as necessary, uses assessment results to design appropriate instructional activities.
  4. Provide strategies to create a classroom environment to meet the social/emotional needs of each student and increase school readiness skills.
  5. Complete developmental screenings/assessments and make referrals to early intervention services.
  6. Record keeping and data collection of Teaching Strategies Gold, COS, and Infinite Campus to meet grant indicators.
  7. Creates a learning climate that supports student achievement and safety.
  8. Evaluates teaching effectiveness based on student achievement in relation to student attainment of Kentucky's learning goals.
  9. Uses technology to support instruction; access and manipulate data; enhance professional growth and productivity; communicate and collaborate with colleagues, parents and the community; and conduct research/solve problems.
  10. Participates in required training relative to teaching assignments, supervisor approved professional growth plan, school/district initiatives, or as directed by the Director of Preschool or Principal.
  11. Supervises students to ensure student safety.
  12. Secures and makes use of school and community resources. Communicates regularly with parents and guardians of students.
  13. Adheres to school, district, state and federal policies, regulations and laws.
  14. Participates in school-related activities, programs or meetings as assigned by the Director of Preschool and/or Principal and/or the Superintendent.
  15. Maintains a variety of records as required by school district policies, state and federal law or as assigned by the Director of Preschool or Principal.
  16. Provides instruction specific to teaching assignment consistent with school and district program requirements or curriculum, Kentucky's Core Content for Assessment and Program of Studies and Kentucky Early Childhood Education standards.
  17. Serves as a member of the ARC (Admissions and Release Committee) in determining eligibility of students for special education programs; assists in development, implementation, monitoring and evaluating of IEP (Individual Education Plan).
  18. Provides and performs student health services as directed by Supervisor after receiving appropriate training as required by law.
  19. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Preschool Services, principal, or the Superintendent.
