TITLE: Instructional Consultant
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Holds a Master's degree and the required Kentucky certificate for the assigned position
- Holds a valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate for Supervisor of Instruction or Consultant Certification
- Has a minimum of three (3) years' experience in curriculum and instruction in the assigned discipline or specified area
- Has extensive knowledge of state and national standards and accountability systems
- Has extensive practitioner knowledge of research-based, best practice instructional strategies and possesses the skills to search for and access additional information
- Has demonstrated evidence of educational leadership such as a solid understanding of the collaborative PLC processes as the foundation for curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices
- Has extensive knowledge in the change process and the ability to explain, promote, and support teachers in understanding the need for change in the instructional process
- Has a clear understanding of confidentiality and the ability to build relationships of trust, work well with people, and demonstrate and maintain productive and positive interpersonal relationships
- Has demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community
REPORT TO: Directors of Teaching and Learning
JOB GOAL: To serve as a resource to teachers and administrators in the assigned discipline or specified area for the purpose of facilitating and supporting instructional improvement.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the development, implementation, and alignment of curriculum based on the Kentucky Academic Standards
- Assist and support teachers with the development of individual staff competencies through training, modeling, observing, monitoring, and providing feedback in assigned discipline or specified area
- Provide district and school professional development in the areas of research-based instructional strategies, curriculum alignment, assessment, and cross-disciplinary planning sessions
- Provide district and school professional development in the area of developing differentiation strategies as well as research-based interventions and/or extensions for students needing differentiated supports
- Participate in learning walks, co-teaching, and classroom visits to determine how to best support schools
- Collaborate with teams by participating in the Professional Learning Community (PLC) process to analyze student data
- Attend workshops and trainings to keep informed of recent research and best practices in the assigned discipline or specified area
- Use creativity and work collaboratively to solve problems and remove barriers impacting growth and progress of teachers to support student growth and development
- Perform other duties consistent with the position as may be requested by the Supervisor
