Lead HVAC Job Description
Job Title: Lead HVAC
Credentials: Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and acceptable driving record; State Journeyman's HVAC license; Mechanical contractor's license: AC-V; RF-I; HE-V, NP-I, and SM-I preferred.
Education: High school diploma or GED, and specialized vocational training in HVAC.
Training or experience required: 7 to 10 years in the heating and air conditioning field; training may substitute for some on the job experience. 5 years experience in the district, as a HVAC Technician preferred.

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Contract: 240 days
Salary Schedule: Lead Maintenance

The district recognizes that the legal aspects and consequences related to medical marijuana, cannabidiol (CBD), and hemp are evolving and may be subject to change. These issues may affect various areas of the district's current policies regarding employees, students, parents, and individuals on district premises, driving district vehicles or attending district events.
The district will continue to enforce its currently adopted policies. As changes in state and/or federal law occur, the district will review and evaluate its policies to determine whether revisions are necessary to remain in compliance with applicable laws.
Employees of the district are expected to comply with all state and federal laws at all times as a condition of their continued employment with the district.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee the HVAC system for the district. Assign work to employees. Review performance, train, and provide technical assistance as needed.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and install HVAC and refrigeration equipment in the district.
- Perform preventive maintenance to equipment. Clean coils, keep units cleaned and oiled, change filters.
- Upgrade HVAC and refrigeration equipment when needed.
- Inform supervisor of parts, equipment and other supplies that are necessary to do the job. Keep the necessary parts and supplies on hand for common projects.
- Provide suggestions that would prolong the life of the equipment.
- Oversee housekeeping duties and ensure that work area, HVAC shop and tools, including assigned vehicle, are properly maintained.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Employees must possess the basic communication skills to exchange information, give and receive simple instructions and respond to inquiries. Employees in his position may be required to perform routine computations requiring a knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using whole numbers, fractions, decimals and/or percentages. Employees must use tools or equipment in a manner requiring competence and must meet certain performance standards which normally would be gained by on the job exposure or training. On a workday, the employee must stand/walk 6-8 hours per day. Employee's job requires occasional to frequent bending/stooping, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing (to 18 feet) and reaching above the shoulders. Employee's job requires frequent carrying/lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting from 50 to 90 pounds carrying ladders, freon, vacuum pump, and changing out compressors. Employees must possess manual dexterity/visual ability to operate hand and power tools, and ladders. Must be able to read labels, blueprints, and schematics. Employees must possess hearing to distinguish normal/abnormal sounds. Must be able to communicate with fellow workers and the public. Must be able to climb ladders and work within confined spaces. Employee's job requires working on unprotected heights (18 ft. ladder and roof); Use of/close to machinery (boilers/air handlers); working in the outdoors with temperature changes; driving motorized equipment (vans and lifts); exposure to toxic and pressurized gas (freon), liquids, high voltages and working on live circuits.
