POSITION OPENING: Transportation R.N (Registered Nurse)
30 hours/week
Year-Round Schedule following Special Education schedule. Calendar to be provided by student services.
Rate of Pay: $34.00-36.00/hour
Reports to: District R.N, Transportation Director
Non-Rep Hourly Position
WHAT WE NEED:
1. Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse (R.N) in Michigan
2. Current certification in CPR and First Aid (American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred).
3. Completion of continuing education requirements necessary to maintain active LPN licensure.
4. Evidence of ability to establish working relationships that result in mutual respect.
5. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
6. Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.
7. Must be comfortable riding district busses and working in such environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists with daily transport of medically fragile students to and from Wing Lake School on district transportation.
- Must adhere strictly to doctor prescribed orders.
- Provide limited nursing support for medically fragile students while on district provided bussing in the morning and afternoons.
- Providing care such as, but not limited to, oral suction, monitoring for seizures, monitoring blood sugar levels, monitoring O2 levels (tanks), monitoring/turning off or on feeding pump.
- Record medical events accurately and in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and kneel on hard surfaces and is occasionally required to walk or stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee frequently will reach above the head and forward. The employee frequently uses hand strength to grasp equipment or students. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds such as students or students in wheelchairs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
