POSITION DESCRIPTION
Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and innovative Chemistry Science teacher to fulfill a vacancy at the International Academy. This position is for introductory and advanced International Baccalaureate (IB) Chemistry courses. The program is supported by a teaching team that works collaboratively to develop and implement curriculum.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (DC) Chemistry (DX) Science
- Major in area of instruction
- International focus across the curriculum which will involve interdisciplinary planning
- Block scheduling Teaching 6 sections (90 minute classes)
- Teacher responsibilities: classroom instructor, seminar mentor, product team advisor, curriculum developer
- Encouraged to be involved in enrichment weeks
- Involvement in International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma Programs
- Willingness to teach IB Theory of Knowledge
- Remain a contractual employee in the teacher's home district; new teachers are hired by one of the participating Oakland County consortium school districts
- Willingness to attend International Baccalaureate teacher training
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- To effectively provide materials and instruction to eligible students
- To effectively communicate with students, staff and families
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree or higher.
LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
