Construction Coordinator
Job Description

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Facilities, Construction, and Capital Projects
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in such related field(s) preferred.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assist the Director of Facilities by performing comprehensive facilities-related responsibilities in the construction of new facilities, and maintenance and renovations of existing facilities. Maintain all life safety systems and be certified in AHERA Asbestos Management and lead base paint
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct regular reviews of project plans, specifications, and submittals to ensure thorough familiarity with requirements, allowing for the prompt identification of non-compliance items during routine site visits and project progress evaluations.
- Observe each active construction project daily to monitor and report any items that do not comply with drawings, specifications, and school system requirements.
- Report observations of any deficiencies in writing to the appropriate project supervisor, architect, and project file.
- Accompany architects, engineers, and AHJs on inspections as required.
- Generate daily reports for all active projects.
- Attend project meetings as required.
- Receive close-out documents and verify for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist architects and engineers in generating a punch list.
- Provide follow-up and coordinate the service of items under warranty with appropriate contractors and suppliers.
- Maintain facility documents, e.g., drawing inventory and closeout documents.
- Maintain records of occupancy permits for all facilities and mobile units.
- Coordinate required inspections and maintenance on building systems to include the following:
- Fire Extinguishers
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Fire Sprinkler Systems
- Kitchen hood and Ansul systems
- Boiler Inspections
- Backflow preventers
- Elevators
- Generators
- Bleachers
- Maintain the AHERA Asbestos Management and Lead-Based Paint Program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, OR TRAINING:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in such related field(s) preferred.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of three to five years of diverse field experience in architecture, engineering, construction, or facilities management.
- Must have prior supervisory experience, including managing personnel and budgets.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Written and oral communication; ability to interact effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and school principals; excellent planning and organizational skills; leadership ability to manage projects; basic working knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and grounds maintenance; computer technology skills with knowledgeable use of project management software.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Must have a valid State of Georgia Driver's license.
- Must have AHERA Asbestos & Lead base paint certification or receive it within 30 days of employment.
