Annual Salary: $86,200+ (Salary placement is based on experience.)

Job Summary:
The Vaping Prevention and Education Grant (VPEG) Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based vaping and nicotine prevention initiatives for youth, families, and school staff. This role focuses on education, outreach, collaboration, and data-informed prevention strategies to reduce youth vaping and promote healthy, substance-free lifestyles. They will also provide district-wide professional development on topics related to Vaping Prevention and substance support. The VPEG Coordinator will work with seven different sites in Harrison School District 2 to implement site-based activities with youth voice. The VPEG Coordinator will work with and support other grants related to substance use and at-risk behavior. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide and/or coordinate presentations, workshops, and trainings for students, educators, families, and community partners.
  • Develop educational materials and resources related to vaping, nicotine addiction, and health impacts.
  • Coordinate and lead the District Student Wellness Committee. Support Peer mentor and Student Wellness Committee students at all participating schools.
  • Maintain VPEG grant and other grants related to substance use and at-risk behavior. Collect and analyze data to monitor program effectiveness and trends in youth vaping and for grant reporting. Attend all convening meetings for VPEG with the Colorado Department of Education.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, nurses, teachers, and community agencies.

  • Attend Wrap Around Service meetings, and site-based committee meetings.

  • Serve as a liaison with public health departments, prevention coalitions, and local organizations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned per the direction of the Wrap Around Services Director. (All duties must be in alignment with the Vaping Prevention Education Grant.)


Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred training in substance use education.
  • Preferred over 5 years of experience in education, mental health or prevention work.
  • Valid Colorado Teaching, Mental Health, and/or Administrators License.
  • In-depth knowledge of education, prevention or mental health.
  • Good organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders within the school environment.
  • Knowledge of classroom management and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Professional Learning Communities.
  • Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
