Family and Community Engagement Specialist (F.A.C.E.)
QUALIFICATIONS: Associates or Bachelors preferred
Post-secondary education/training preferred
Knowledge of and experience with community services and schools
Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups
Possess valid Illinois Driver's License
Ability to communicate effectively in English

JOB GOAL:
To improve student achievement and increase family and community connection by serving as a coordinator of resources for families in order to foster school success and parental involvement.

Family Support Activities: - Serves as a resource to parents and students by linking services from health and social service agencies, counselors, and teachers
- Establishes linkages with community agencies
- Assists in the orientation and registration of students
- Assists with needs assessments with McKinney Vento families
- Assists parents in interactions with schools
- Assist Mckinney Vento families by providing access to resources
- Monitor attendance data to decrease chronic absenteeism rate
- Provides home visits as needed
- Support MTTS team's and BSS's goals related to attendance, academic and/or SEL goals with students
- Provide food backpack for students
Cultural Bridge: - Advocates for culturally responsive practices within the school
Educational Programming: - Conducts at least 3 parent educational meetings per year, including one covering the Family component Second Step
- Assists schools with family literacy nights and cultural celebrations
- Provides information on educational resources
Student Support: - Assists in meeting district and state guidelines for student physicals and immunizations
- Monitors student attendance, tardiness, and engagement
- Connects students with appropriate academic and social-emotional resources
- Supports all students in adjusting to school environment
| Documentation & Records: - Maintains detailed contact logs with families
- Creates quarterly reports for Building Principals and Superintendent
- Documents community referrals and follow-up activities
- Tracks attendance at parent educational meetings
- Maintains Panorama data for attendance,and tardies to support school staff with increasing student attendance
- Maintains discipline referrals, suspensions, achievement, extra-curricular participation for caseload students
- Support school nurses with monitoring health status of students needing immunizations and physicals and connecting students with clinics
- Makes contact with parents/guardians at least once a quarter to discuss student progress relative to goals
Communication Materials: - Develops presentation materials for parent educational meetings
- Prepares needs assessment tools and summary reports
Program Development: - Participates on the school Positive Behavior Intervention System Tier I teams
- Collaborates with building teams on agendas and materials for family engagement events
- Develops resource directories of community services
- Produces culturally responsive family education curriculum

- Reduced chronic absenteeism among caseload students
- Track resources connected to McKinney Vento students.
- Increased academic achievement as measured by MAP scores and other assessments
- Higher rates of homework completion and assignment understanding

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month (260/261 days) Classified position with salary and hours to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Superintendent in accordance with the provisions established by the Board of Education.
SALARY RANGE: Determined by the Board of Education Range of $18.00 to $22.00 per hour
