Job Description

 

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires thorough knowledge of theory, principles, and practices associated with athletic program compliance and coach certification requirements. Requires knowledge of District athletic program operations and CIF coaching requirements. Must know basic principles of supervision, training, and staff evaluation. Requires knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations including student safety and employment compliance requirements. Requires strong organizational, planning, and communication skills as well as proficiency with recordkeeping systems and databases.

 

Requires the ability to independently perform all duties of the position efficiently and effectively. Must be able to supervise, organize, and review the work of technical and clerical staff in a manner that promotes efficiency and high morale. Requires the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet schedules and deadlines, especially during peak coaching hiring periods. Must be able to prepare clear and concise reports and routine correspondence. Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with District officials, school administrators, coaches, staff, and the public. 

 

Requires sufficient arm, hand, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability to communicate in person and over the phone. May require occasional walking, standing, and light lifting associated with office and program support duties.

 

BA Degree from an accredited college or university preferred or a minimum of two years of increasingly responsible experience in athletic program administration, compliance coordination, or related work.

Requires a valid California Driver's License, valid First Aid, CPR. Must maintain these certifications and obtain other certifications as KHSD deem necessary. 

Responsible for overseeing and implementing the District's coaches clearance process. Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of staff involved in the clearance and approval of coaches. Works with the Director of School Services and site administrators regarding the selection and clearance of District coaches including walk-on coaches and volunteers. Reviews coaching applications and verifies completion of required certifications, clearances, and documentation in accordance with District and CIF policies. Prepares various reports on operations and activities. Coordinates required training and certification programs for coaches including first aid, CPR, concussion protocols, and other required compliance trainings. Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives related to coaching compliance and clearance procedures. Establishes schedules and methods for providing efficient clearance services; implements policies and procedures. Prepares various reports regarding coaching clearances, compliance status, and program operations. Serves as a liaison between the District, school sites, athletic directors, and external organizations regarding coach eligibility and compliance requirements. Provide assistance and consultation to District schools regarding coaching requirements, eligibility rules, and certification compliance. Promotes awareness of coaching requirements and compliance standards within the District. Organizes and oversees the annual coach's clearance process to ensure all coaching staff are properly approved prior to participation in District programs. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required. Other duties as assigned.

 

A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

 

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN A VALID CLASS "C" CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S LICENSE AND PROOF OF INSURANCE COVERAGE.

 

DUTIES OF POSITION: Coordinates and manages the District's coaching clearance process. Oversees, assigns, reviews, and participates in work related to processing coaching applications, certifications, and compliance requirements. Performs a variety of technical and administrative tasks relative to assigned programs and ensures all coaches meet District, CIF, and legal requirements prior to working with students.

 

 

STARTING SALARY: $6,691.76 (monthly)

 

NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)

 

NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours 7a.m. to 4 p.m.)
